By analysing website data in GA4, I discovered an interesting 12-month trend for a client. Customers over 55 generated double the value per click compared to younger age groups. 👴 We put this insight to the test by creating age-specific ad groups with tailored messaging, like “Over 55? Google Merchant Centre - Google Ads Linking In the New Interface - A how to..... One of the main issues with the change in the new Google Ads interface is that things you used to know, and where things lived, have completely changed and none of the how to's from support.google.com are updated to allow for this.   If you're looking to link a Google Merchant Centre with a Google Ads account this is how you do it now in the new interface:   So add your Google Ads ID to the Merchant Centre, under Settings > Linked Accounts. This hasn’t changed - hoorah!   Now log into Google Ads – and instead of navigating to “Linked Accounts”, then selecting Manage and Link, do the below:   Select Tools in the left hand nav, then go to Data Manager > Connected Products. 🕳️ Is Performance Max the Holy Grail of PPC Advertising? Or is it a Budget Black Hole? (hint - it can be either, depending on how you approach it). What data do you need in HubSpot ? We talk about data a lot! We talk especially about the importance of clean data, or how to fix bad data. But what data do you need? This is an easy step to undertake in your HubSpot journey, but sometimes one that isn’t done well, if at all. I think people can overestimate or misunderstand what data is in HubSpot and therefore it becomes a difficult idea. But it couldn’t be more straightforward. ‘Data’ in HubSpot is a ‘record’ think of a note, a piece of paper, with the information you want to store written out in a nice format all arranged so it’s easy to see and understand. Now, in your mind, create a note for your contacts. Those people who are customers or prospects usually, and think about what information you’d like to have written down. First name, last name, email address, mobile number… those are the basics. Anything else? Fill out your note with all the information you need. Now create another note for the customers company. The website address, maybe physical address, turnover, number of employees, industry or sector their services and so on. ‘Staple’ those notes together and you have an ‘association’ as we call it in HubSpot. Two records that are connected to each other. Think about all the information you might want to store for your contacts and companies. Those ‘properties’ all have a place on your note and in HubSpot too. You could store emails you’ve sent to each other, telephone calls you’ve made, tasks you’ve set for yourself, even the actions your customer has taken when visiting your website! As you build the record the amount of information can increase and become more detailed and so storing it in your CRM becomes a very good idea. Now think of other ‘records’ you might want. A deal record? A record of a customer service request? And of course it’s really useful when all of those records are associated to each other so you can see everything all in one place. Before you know it you’ve got a record of your relationship with your customer. One you can go back and check, infer information from, test hypotheses with, and of course, provide a great service to! That’s it, it’s not more complicated than that. So when a CRM person talks about data, it’s not data in the sense of 1s and 0s like you might think. It’s just contact records. But contact records that can be as rich and detailed as you like, because we are using technology to handle it all, instead of all that paper :-) Some businesses don’t need much. Some businesses need loads. You do you. And as ever, I’d be happy to help if you need it.
