It was worth sharing the weather alert in the West Midlands, UK (𝟵 𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟮𝟵 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆, 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟭 𝗽𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟯𝟭 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰). These simple, sensible tips are your practical guide to making your day safe, productive, and fun anywhere during hot days. 🌞 Shut out the sun: Open your windows, but keep the curtains and blinds closed during the day. If it's safe, keep windows open in the evening and at night. 🌞 Hydrate: drink plenty of water, and avoid tea or coffee; caffeine will dehydrate you. 🌞 Change how you eat: Avoid meat and more salads to keep you hydrated. 🌞 Dress smart: Wear suitable materials and wear sweat-wicking workout clothes if possible. 🌞 You can take your socks off: In hot weather, your hands and feet help your body eliminate excess heat, preventing you from 'overheating'. 🌞Freeze a hot water bottle: Instead of filling it with boiling water, freeze it and place it against your feet. Your feet and ankles are sensitive to heat because they have many pulse points. Applying something cool against them will create a cooling effect throughout your body. 🌞Build your DIY air conditioner by Placing a frozen glass or a bottle of water before a fan to create a cool breeze. 🌞 Fitness and Exercise: If you are planning on working out in the heat, make sure you drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workout. 🌞 Cool your pulse points: To cool down quickly, apply ice packs to pulse points like wrists, neck, chest, or temples. Cover the skin with a towel and limit contact to 20 minutes. You can also run your wrists under cold water for a similar effect. 🌞 Cold press your neck: Pressing a cold flannel against your neck is a clever way to target the part of the brain that senses and regulates body temperature. Fold the flannel in half, douse it in water, and press it against your neck. 🌞 Sit at the table: In hot weather, sitting with a hot laptop on your lap can make you uncomfortable. Place it on a table or hard surface for better posture. 🌞 Unplug your charger: Unplug the electronics you're not using if you want to cool things down. 🌞 Adjust your working hours (if possible): You can start earlier to maximise productivity before the sun hits its highest point in the sky. 🌞 Working in the sun: For outdoor staff, working in hot weather can lead to sunstroke, sunburn, and skin cancer.
