By focusing on empowerment, renewal, and rediscovery, the campaign showcased menopause as a time of growth. Featuring real voices from menopausal women and partnering with Visible Inc, QVC co-created content with the community to ensure authenticity. Key highlights included the Turn the Face the Change series with Anita Rani, Jo Wiley, and Gabby Logan, sharing stories of embracing midlife. The campaign achieved impressive results, with a 70% increase in confidence in QVC’s support for midlife women, a 90% increase in consideration, and a 61% rise in users. 🏆 We won an IPA Effectiveness Award for Nurofen 🏆 Congratulations to our brilliant Marketing partners at Reckitt and incredible team here at McCann London for winning a Bronze IPA Effectiveness Award, at last night's IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) Gala 👏 Our paper was centred around how Nurofen tackled a hidden health crisis to regain category leadership. "Already on a downward trajectory for trust, value for money perceptions, and sales, Nurofen was further hit at the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020 by unfounded claims about its ingredient, Ibuprofen. To build back both its brand and sales, Nurofen adopted more empathetic messaging on pain and a particular focus on how women’s pain was not taken seriously. In addition to emotive TV advertising, activities ranged from providing research and training for healthcare professionals to creating 'fake' products dismissing women’s pain. National Fertility Awareness Week 4 – 8 November 2024 A study from medical journal the Lancet found the UK's fertility rate is forecast to fall by more than 7% by 2050. And the uptake of fertility treatments has gone from singular thousands to double digits over the decade. Similar trends follow in the US with a sharp increase in infertility astonishingly U.S. fertility market size to achieve USD 8.69 Billion by 2033!! Its 2024 a women now or prior should never be put in the position of loosing their job, or worse yet…choosing between their job in order to start a family. While there is still no clear statuary right to leaves for treatment or clear protection laws within early treatment cycle, there is still a lot that employers can do to support equitibally and aid understanding. The PRCA/CIPR’s Mental Wellbeing Audit 2023/2024 – conducted by Opinium – revealed that on average, 91% of PR practitioners have reported poor mental health in the last 12 months. The proportion who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition has risen from one in four (25%) to a third (33%). 2023 Inclusive Media Buying and Planning - Nationals Award Winner 🏆 The winner for Inclusive Media Buying and Planning - Nationals went to MG OMD, OMG UNITE, and OmniGov, LLC for their impactful campaign for NHS Blood and Transplant. In 2022, the NHS faced a growing challenge: Sickle Cell disease, the fastest-growing genetic disorder in the UK, which disproportionately affects people of Black heritage. The need for blood donations rose dramatically, with 250 donations required daily to treat the illness, up from 150 five years prior. Pret's subscription model wasn't about loyalty, it was about customer acquisition 🫴 I keep seeing Pret's £30 a month subscription referred to as a loyalty scheme; including in their own financial reports. Now, with their latest move to change it up there's a sense that this was a failed loyalty scheme. But if I flip it on its head, I see it as one giant sampling campaign, partly invested in by the UK population! If you want to get people to pay money for something that they're not quite sure on the quality, value, taste, then one of the ways to get it into their hands is to offer it to them for free or at a low price. And if you want them to continue enjoying your product regularly, you can aim to create a habit around your product. You could do this by giving away lots of your product around the same time every day to embed this ritual into your customers' lives. Brands are leaky buckets, and following the pandemic Pret had a mostly empty bucket! To grow, brands need to aim for light buyers, and continuously bring more people in to your brand than your competitors. I see Pret as looking to get a competitive advantage over other coffee shops by getting competitors' customers to make the switch to Pret, thus stealing market share. When they make the switch to their cheaper subscription but with less 'payback', I imagine there's an assumption that all these 'loyal' customers are so invested in Pret that they'll continue to visit and buy. Yet coffee is a commodity. People will generally go to the coffee shop closest to them in their moment of need! Unless Pret has coffee filled with magic, there's very little reason to choose one coffee chain over another. But, I'm optimistic. I imagine Pret will keep plenty of customers, many of whom were not Pret customers before, because of a successful initiative in driving trial. And if I'd like one thing to come out of this, I'd love to see the next financial report refer to this subscription as a customer acquisition strategy, not a loyalty one 😉
