Portfolio company #15 for ESH - happy to welcome Bagel AI 🥯 This one is really exciting on both the professional and the personal level. Having known Ohad for over two years, I've witnessed the transformation of Bagel from concept to a platform delivering real value to customer-facing teams, and the transformation of Ohad into a top-notch founder. The seamless alignment between customer needs, product features, and outbound teams like marketing, sales, and customer success is truly remarkable, and Ohad’s journey is a great model to learn from. Despite my Gluten-Free nutrition, I recognize the value of Bagel and see it as a game-changer for commercial teams, providing visibility into the revenue impact of every feature, module, and change request. It could be the next best thing since sliced GF bread! On a bittersweet note, Investment #15 marks the final ESH check. Raising ESH2 posed unexpected challenges (to say the least…) and there won’t be a fund 2 for ESH. Today we’ve announced $1.24 billion in new funds - a $485m venture fund and $754m for growth. We founded Atomico in 2006 with the vision that exceptional companies could come from anywhere. Skype had already proven the theory, and we knew Europe had plenty more in the making. But support was needed to bring these to life. Today we have a $3 trillion ecosystem, and Europe is creating more companies than any other region. These firms are just as likely to achieve billion dollar plus valuations as those coming out of the US. The foundations are in place, but there’s a funding gap. US tech startups are 40% more likely to have successfully secured VC funding after 5 years than European counterparts. These new funds enable us to help bridge that gap, so the most ambitious founders can continue to rewire the world better. Much more is of course needed. We’re only beginning to realise our ambitions for European technology. I’d like to share thoughts on longevity clinics and also the future for the public longevity sector. First of all, it is good to see more longevity clinics around, including public clinics hosted by prominent public hospitals! Some prominent examples include Sheba Longevity Center (Ramat Gan, Israel), Healthy Longevity Clinic at Alexandra Hospital (Singapore), Mayo Clinic Healthy Longevity Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota, USA), the first public longevity clinic in the US. Private clinics are more abundant, for example Switzerland is home to several, including: 💼 Longevity Center (Zurich, Switzerland & Warsaw, Poland), managed by Joanna Bensz (co-founder,CEO), Prince Michael of Liechtenstein (co-founder). 💼 CLINIQUE LA PRAIRIE (Lake Geneva, Switzerland), managed by Simone Gibertoni (CEO), Adrian Heini (Medical Director) and with a starting price for the 1-week program to be around €50,000. 💼 AYUN (Zurich), managed by Dr. med. But the point is, they are not exactly super affordable for the broader community. That’s fine for now, and I am happy to see the progress in this area. But I see the future of public longevity a bit differently. IMO, it is not a “brick and mortar” way (going to clinic), but “in-house” way, where you have digital and biosensors, e.g. stool sensors, urine sensors, blood draw automation tools, digital trackers, and AI systems connecting the dots with the actual physician. I’m getting more investment requests for longevity clinical, but it is a challenging business. What matters for many is who is your longevity physician. It is important that organizations such as Healthy Longevity Medicine Society promote practical longevity stuff, and allow doctors to implement best practices in their usual medical routines, like diagnostics, personalized medicine etc. So, the future of longevity is not longevity clinics, I guess, although for now they are quite valuable for some patients. The Israeli tech sector accounts for 20% of the country's economic output, and continues to attract #VC investment… despite the war, the Israeli tech train keeps moving. But... is it sustainable? From the outside looking in, many saw #Israel as the golden child over the past 10 years… but now, there’s doubt it’ll continue. Yes, cyber and AI continue to attract capital, including foreign money, but it comes at a cost. Many VCs are asking founders to move to the US quicker, hire more in the US vs. in Israel, and to do whatever it takes to lower the risk. Early-stage startups are finding it harder to secure investments, and the war has disrupted operational continuity for many companies. Yet, hard times create big companies, and the challenges Israeli founders are faced with today will pave the way for a new wave of successful companies in the future. Where do we go from here? These VC firms just announced new cash in the coffers. 🔴 Tel Aviv based Swish Ventures raised its newest $60M fund to invest in early stage cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and AI startups. 🔴 Australia based Airtree announced its fifth $650M fund. The capital will be split in two, with Core Fund V backing early stage technology startups, and Opportunity Fund V supporting Airtree’s portfolio companies. 🔴 Bengaluru based Stellaris Venture Partners closed its third $300M fund to back early stage founders in India. 🔴 New York based Cadenza closed a $50 million early stage AI Venture Fund.

💛 Last week, we had a great evening hosting a dinner in London with some of our dear VC friends from top venture funds such as Creandum, Visionaries Club, Atomico, Dawn Capital, Seedcamp, LocalGlobe, DN Capital or Speedinvest. 💡 Our conversations covered a wide range of topics, from the latest round dynamics in pre-seed to the pressing challenges in B2B Enterprise SaaS. Following Salesforce 20% share price drop, we all discussed the increasing pressure that large B2B SaaS will face to maintain sustainable double-digit growth (NRR >110/115%). Key growth obstacles include  - cuts in the number of seats that limit upselling opportunities  - SaaS budgets shifting to experimental AI initiatives  - fierce competition from software saturation ➡ How the new generation of Enterprise SaaS companies will maneuver some of those challenges is critical. 🚀 We are excited about the future of European tech, and eager to collaborate with more fellow VCs to support founders at the very start of their journey! 🙏 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us then.
