Should regulatory agencies like the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, FDA, and the European Medicines Agency disclose inspection findings to the public? The Pharmacovigilance Inspection Metrics Report for April 2021 – March 2022 reveals that the MHRA's compliance team conducted 32 inspections of 30 marketing authorization holders, uncovering 6 critical, 72 major, and 91 minor findings during that period. Questions arise: Should these critical findings be transparent to the public? Four ground breaking therapies are lined up to receive decisions in the coming weeks: Autolus Therapeutics is hoping for the green light on a new CAR T-cell therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia—early data shows it could be a game-changer for patients facing relapsed or refractory forms of the disease. PTC Therapeutics, Inc. Therapeutics is seeking approval for Upstaza, a gene therapy for the super-rare AADC deficiency, which affects young children’s ability to produce crucial neurotransmitters. It’s already available in Europe, so fingers crossed for approval in the U.S. too! Journey Medical Corporation might bring the first oral treatment for rosacea that tackles both redness and inflammation. Their DFD-29 drug showed promise in Phase III trials, outperforming current treatments.
