OK..re-sharing this from like 10 minutes ago because the more I thought about it, the more interesting it became. You can see what's going on by the pic below but then you really need to go in and look at the examples (https://lnkd.in/dRcwpaJX). They're awful. So bad. So horrifyingly wrong they're educational. I love this. Can I imagine that we could do one of these for #LMS or #AuthoringTools in a heartbeat? You bet! I mean we'd have to exclude spamming the "next" button - just too easy. There's another layer here though too. We like to talk about #psychologicalsafety and how important it is to #failfaster for the sake of #innovation...but how many people would have the courage to do one of these? https://lnkd.in/gpXmBnkX There is a point at which people need to show the kind of culture they want to build. I think the bad example competition would help us mock some of the worst aspects out of existence in a way that overwhelming evidence can't see to do (Looking at you Learning Styles and that stupid pyramid w the percentages). And you image the power of having your CEO stand up and talk about a time she totally f'ed up and what happened? So who wants to judge the Bad Example Contest with me?

Currently working in two roles at the moment: supplier 'poacher' and gamekeeper. The main thing I've learned about openEHR/PRSB/FHIR conversations is SNOMED is more important. It also seems the semantic/information standards can be a little too technical focused. For example PRSB is useful technically if you are working with XDS/CDA/FHIR Documents. If your tech solution and use case isn't that, then you need to break it down into components. E.g. https://lnkd.in/eDbkaW5U has within it a definition of an assessment which we can use to build a form for pharmacists to use. In the form we've dropped all the data we can look up from our own database or obtain from external API's. This is only needed if need to share a document.

This is a very exciting time for me, as I am just about to start my #Northcoders journey. It actually doesn’t start for another two weeks, and I’ve already done so much just to get where I am, but today is when my build up for the course starts in earnest. I’ve got a few things to get in order over the next two weeks. • Get my 𝐑𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐢 set up with 𝑔𝑖𝑡 and and the various repositories and packages required for #Northcoders. I already have a desk top running 𝑈𝑏𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑢 set up as it’s meant to be, but I’d quite like a back up, which is where the 𝑃𝑖 comes in. Also, I’ve been looking ahead to the final projects, and there seems to be quite a bit of freedom as to what you can do, so I was thinking of getting my 𝑅𝑎𝑠𝑝𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑦 𝑃𝑖 set up as a server to host some websites as part of that. It would be a really good experience doing that, and would add to my understanding of how websites are hosted, so first things first, is to make sure it’s all updated and running well. Last month I created a new image of a lightweight version of the desktop and copied it to a brand new 32G SD card. Did my research and the most reliable card suggested was a 𝑆𝑐𝑎𝑛𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑘 𝑀𝑎𝑥 𝐸𝑛𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒, so that’s already set up. Next job, get all the required packages installed on the 𝑃𝑖 for the course. • Next thing I’ve got planned it to start a 𝐯𝐥𝐨𝐠 on a #YouTube Channel, to also chart my progress through #Northcoders over the next few months. The idea here is that if I’ve worked out how to produce short videos before the course starts, then it might not take too much time quickly creating them once a week as I go along. Then, by the end of the course, I’ll have 12 little 𝑣𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑠 outlining everything I’ve learnt. I’ve already done a little work on this by looking into easy to use video editing software. One free version that was regularly recommended was 𝑂𝐵𝑆 𝑆𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑖𝑜. On first testing, I can confirm that it is basically pretty easy to use and I could do simple editing within minutes of starting using it. The only problem is that my laptop webcam and microphone were not of a high enough quality. So I brought a 𝐿𝑜𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑐ℎ 𝑈𝑆𝐵 𝐶525 𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑐𝑎𝑚, which had a much better camera, but I still wanted to improve the sound quality. So I also brought a 𝐽𝐿𝑎𝑏 𝑇𝑎𝑙𝑘 𝐺𝑜 𝑈𝑆𝐵 𝑚𝑖𝑐𝑟𝑜𝑝ℎ𝑜𝑛𝑒, which I can highly recommend as well. Next job here is to get all three things working together. There are other little things I’m doing too, but these are my main projects over the next week or two. 14 days until it all kicks off!!!

Why did you do this? a friend asked me a few days ago and I think I now have the answer. Some things we do don't necessarily have a clear purpose or goal when we do them but we do them anyway. It is only later that we discover why - and this was the case with this project. About 10 years ago, I decided I wanted to build an app for the Google Play store and I had an idea for what I thought would be an interesting game. Leverage a physics engine to model a rope, put some bugs on it and have the player think about the smartest way to solve the onslaught. After about 5 years ago, I ran out of time to support this app so I simply unpublished it. People that had installed it could keep playing it but no one could download it anymore. Earlier this year, talking to my now teenager son, I saw an opportunity to revive the game and teach him about launching an app on the app store. What seemed to have no purpose 10 years ago, now took upon a special meaning that would help my son learn truly what the effort involved in launching an app. And what an effort it was. After 3 months of team effort (this was almost as much effort to build the game!) we've finally relaunched BugRope. So I had this vague idea.. For a siyum this week, I decided to bake a cake. Not just any cake—a cool, creative one. Problem was…I had no plan and no idea what the masechta was about. So with a little explanation from Chat (Thanks Chat!) I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. No real idea of what I was doing and no special ingredients or tools. And guess what? It actually worked out! (Pic for proof.) What hit me after was how often this happens in life, and especially at work. We get stuck waiting for the “perfect plan” before starting. But here’s the thing: the magic happens when you just jump in. In the business world—and definitely in cybersecurity—you rarely have the full picture. New threats, shifting priorities, limited resources... It’s chaos sometimes! But if you focus on the basics, start building, and adjust as you go, things have a way of coming together. This cake was a reminder for me: you don’t need to know every step to get started. Just take the first one, keep going, and trust in Hashem. So...what’s something you’ve been holding off on because you “don’t have it all figured out”? Go for it—you’ll figure it out along the way.

Ok, so after 17 years and a bit, I'm sending out the I've 'moved' to another company LinkedIn post! This time round however, it's a move of one company to another company with me in tow… Omnissa. There's been multiple posts from UK people who were EUC folk, under VMware and then Broadcom, and now in Omnissa.  Like so many of those people, I have lots of memories throughout my time, all the way from 2007 through to now. There are lots of people I owe so much to, lots who helped me in my career progression in the 17 years.  Lots of great memories spending time with colleagues past and present and all the experiences working with customers and partners too. I haven't got enough space or time to list them all and to mention some and not others, would not do everyone justice so I will simply say, thank you to everyone. I did think about writing some things about major memories of my time but then I thought let’s look forward instead and write something about what Omnissa will mean to all our loyal customers and partners. I got a great reminder today, as part of the move to Omnissa, why I love our solutions and products so much. I had to wipe my Mac and start over again from scratch. I got to see our Workspace ONE UEM Mac management in action, along with Intelligent Hub delivering all the apps and providing a great user onboarding experience. Just a small set of the Omnissa platform but a real example of why I'm excited to be here now. Omnissa makes cool tech that works and works great and now we can take it further and make great even better. So here's to life under Omnissa, here's a thank you to all the customers and partners who stuck with us through the transition and here’s to even more cool tech in the #EUC Space. #Omwardsandupwards #WorkspaceONE #Horizon

The last few months I’ve been creating content for the Cambridgeshire Cats. I’ve been using CapCut which is a great tool which I’ve found to be very user friendly. It’s really got me thinking, that useable tools have two jobs. 1. Is to be easy enough for beginners to start using it & for them to build confidence. 2. Have many layers that allows experience users to still find complexity. Cap Cut really does this perfectly. I’m enjoying being a creator, but with my product hat on, it’s given me a boost in how I would build a self-service platform. Example attached: #Content #Product #Useable

TravHELL ✈️ 🚆 🚌 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Anyone else get caught in the horrendous travel situation a week or so ago? A couple of good pals and I did. Total. *bleep*ing. Disaster 💆🏻‍♂️ On the way to Krakow 🇵🇱 we were met with delayed and then cancelled trains. Mini buses full of luggage. Stansted airport security chaos. And bare footed sprints to departure gates with a minute to spare. On the way home we had delayed and then cancelled flights. Wrong bookings. Ryan Air luggage disputes. Passports in luggage holds. Train cancellations. Train delays. And paralytically drunk passengers (not us!). [It took me 14 hours door to door to get home 😅 ] Now, I’m not here to moan. First world problems, right? I’m here to reflect. It made me think about being in the midst of a crisis or tough situation in professional life. In particular, what’s important when crisis strikes… My reflections : 😌CALM IN THE CHAOS People who can be calm and rational in a crisis or chaos are incredibly VALUABLE (I’ll be honest - this was not me for a lot of both journeys!). [people who are too calm are frustrating as hell Euan Casserly 😂] 🧭 PLANNING Before launching into action it is critical that we assess the problem and decide as a team the best course of action. Without this, chaos can quickly escalate (it did!). 💡 AGILE DECISION MAKING Making A decision quickly that advances your position is better than trying to make the perfect decision but doing it slowly (the perfect option may disappear before you’ve decided to act! - this happened so many times in 14 hours) 🗣️ COMMUNICATION & DELEGATION Everyone needs to know what their individual jobs are and must communicate progress and necessary changes clearly and as quickly as possible to the rest of the team. 😊 PERSPECTIVE The world isn’t going to end. Your family and friends will still love you. And there’s always a way to fix it (even if it’s scrap it and start again!). 💪🏻 RESILIENCE You have to be able to roll with the punches. You’ve taken one and you might have to take a couple more before you can give one back. Important to just keep trying to advance and eventually you’ll get there (or home in this case 🏠). In summary, I won’t be travelling to Europe in July any time soon! But I will take onboard (pun intended) some of these reflections for next time I’m in a crisis - personal or professional. Trying to get your health tech solution into the NHS? Buckle up, it’s a long road, but here’s your roadmap..... We’ve been working with companies to navigate the complexities of getting their tech adopted by the NHS, and it’s clear that persistence and a clear plan are key. Here’s a quick guide based on what we’ve learned along the way: 1. Figure out the real need If your solution doesn’t solve a genuine problem for the NHS, it’s going to be a tough sell. Do your research upfront. That’s field research as well. 2. Clinical evidence is non-negotiable No solid clinical trials, no traction. Simple as that. Gather data, prove your solution works. 3. Build relationships with the right people It’s all about the stakeholders. Start engaging with NHS Trusts and Health Innovation Networks early. You need to have a BD mindset and start making those connections they pay off. 4. Tailor your solution to NHS workflows Don’t expect to just drop in your tech. You’ll need to adapt it to fit NHS needs and systems. 5. Understand the procurement process This one’s a marathon. Get familiar with the ins and outs of NHS procurement—it’s long, but persistence pays off. Breaking into the NHS isn’t easy, but with the right strategy, you can get there.
