Our Managing Director of Defence, UK, Andy Scott, recently spoke to Defence Online about how the increasingly complex threats to our security are evolving the defence landscape. With evolving security challenges like cyber warfare and drone technology, defence strategies must integrate technical expertise at all levels to better deliver campaign outcomes. To achieve this, three interconnected priorities must be addressed: fostering a more collaborative mindset, supported by digital tools, and investing in our skills and behaviours. Andy says: “A cohesive defence ecosystem, encompassing allies, government departments, the MOD and our supply chain, is essential. This requires flexible, innovative partnership models, drawing lessons from sectors like aviation and energy, which manage complex outcomes over long timeframes." 📢 #UK announces new anti-GPS-jamming test facility - QinetiQ and UK Ministry of Defence ✨A new test facility, one of the largest in Europe, will help military kit to be better protected from attempts to jam GPS devices.   ✨The facility will provide a key capability to develop UK assets that can perform in the harshest electromagnetic environments on operations.    ✨Under the new £20 million contract, QinetiQ will build a radio frequency, anti-jamming test facility at the Ministry of Defence’s Boscombe Down site in Wiltshire.     ✨The ‘silent hangar’ will be large enough to fit some of the biggest military assets, including Protector drones, Chinook helicopters, and F-35 fighter jets – a far greater capacity than existing UK facilities.    ✨Due to open in 2026, the anechoic hangar creates the perfect environment to test the integrity of the UK’s military equipment. We have published a range of insights into single source (non-competitive) defence contracting between the MOD and industry over the past year. Each year we publish a statistics bulletin (https://lnkd.in/dVnZVfpD) that provides facts and figures about single source defence procurement, which occurs when national security requires it or where there is only one company able to produce and supply certain equipment or services to the MOD. The 2023/24 statistics show that the total estimated price of all the contracts entered into since 1 April 2015 was £102 billion. This is based on 615 contracts (active and completed). The average estimated contract profit rate across all those contracts is 9.47 per cent. The statistics give a unique overview of this procurement activity, which includes analysis of: ·     Estimated profit rates of contracts. ·     Contract prices. ·     Contract duration. ·     The types of pricing methods used in these contracts. ·     Small and Medium Enterprise involvement. ·     The estimated and actual/forecast price in completed contracts.
