However, the bottom line is always that without cash, you have no business, and thus the CFO plays a critical role to forecast (horizon scanning in BC speak) and raising the alarm early so that difficult decisions can be made before it is too late. The sad news below is devastating for the 160 employees and all the company's supporters and highlights that #organisationalresilience is a whole company, full time activity. UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £1.3 million targeting cyber skills and innovation for the growth of the cyber security sector. This funding is from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). ISACA is pleased to receive the The Rt Hon Stephen McPartland Review on Cyber Security as an enabler of Economic Growth’s final report, having provided evidence during its consultation process. We welcome several of its positive recommendations, such as the creation of new UK Cyber Charter, the establishment of DSIT’s proposed Cyber Governance Code of Practice as an operational resilience requirement for businesses, and the emphasis on industry adoption of the NCSC Cyber Toolkit for Boards. The UK Governments cybersecurity agency the NCSC has updated its Cybersecurity Assessment Framework (CAF) this week, to reflect the increased threat of cyberattack to UK Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). Making significant changes to remote access, privileged operations, user access levels and the use of multi-factor authentication. A nice Sunday read from the The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland reviewing the top issues UK and Ireland boards see as their top priorities. Painting a gloomy picture from board members about the economy, expectations and confidence for today and the future. Yes cyber continues to be a problem, for the fifth year cyber risk has ranked highest as a 'very important' drive of risk (59%), and nearly 9 in 10 directors poled thought it was a risk contributor. No surprises there. One predicts the problem ahead for UK and Irish boards will only increase in proportion to the frequency, complexity and severity of cyber risk; the lack in available resources and the deployment of cybersecurity regulation across partner nations such as the U.S, EU and Australia. Cyber is the most complex non-financial risk boards must deal with. If testimony from U.S and EU regulators is to be believed, board do not understand cyber risk, or have put in place appropriate governance, oversight and assurance over cybersecurity risk management.
