Great to see UK Tech News covering our Technology and the Boardroom report! https://lnkd.in/ekPNAkSC A really interesting finding uncovers the boardroom’s current attitude towards working models, with nearly half (48 per cent) saying they are back to full time in-office working schedules. Interestingly, CEOs are at odds with tech leaders, with 64 per cent of CEOs leading the charge on a return to the office agenda, compared to just 42 per cent of tech leaders. “Can you disrupt embedded recruitment?” This was a question I was asked last night by a well known Global TA leader… I think my instant answer was no…. But we’re 15 hours on from that… so the answer is closer to probably. The reason organisations like agencies is the pay on success model. The reason organisations dislike embedded (despite being cheaper) is the risk that no hires are made (this has never happened) so the solution is to share that risk isn’t it? But you tell me - what makes you say no to embedded and yes to agency? #inhouseisbest #embeddedislowercost

Half of UK Tech Workers Planning to Switch Roles in 2024! I read a report which highlighted that 50% of UK tech workers are considering leaving their current positions in the next 12 months – a rate higher than the global average of 45%. What’s driving this? Top reasons: Higher pay is the main motivator for those seeking new roles. Career progression and a desire for a better company culture are also pushing workers to explore new opportunities. But it’s not just about salary. Tech workers are increasingly selective, demanding: Hybrid working – 52% of global employees now enjoy this flexibility. Well-being support – 80% feel their organisation supports their mental and physical well-being. Diverse opportunities – Women are more likely to take non-traditional paths into tech, with many favouring freelancing due to the flexibility it offers. With organisations looking to embrace AI and automation, the report highlights a shortage of the skills needed to support these ambitions. This ensures pensions increase by the highest of inflation, earnings, or 2.5%. With inflation at 2.2%, the pension is set to rise by £460 a year. Looking to get ahead of the curve when hiring tech talent in the UK in 2024? This is a big topic, the market in NZ is is rocky at the moment and there needs to be a level of understanding, respect and care taken when looking at something like a restructure that could end in redundancies. In this months blog there is a sub focus on wellbeing and mental health as it is certainly something that will be impacted if you go through redundancy. I would know, I've personally been made redundant twice. The GFC and Covid were not good to me. If you are being made redundant you need to take care of yourself and make sure that you prioritise you mental health. On the other hand, if you are required to make the redundancies you also need to be attentive to your mental health because these are hard conversation for all parties to have. The DG team hope this blog can assist at least one person to navigate through redundancy easier.
