Even Top Salespeople can Fail at Selling Themselves!     Last week I experienced first-hand how crucial it is for sales candidates to convey their value effectively.   Two fantastic candidates in the same interview process with a HPC client of mine: Both have similar credentials: impressive sales records, extensive HPC industry knowledge, and strong client relationships with Enterprise clients.   The key differences I noticed: One candidate confidently articulated his experiences by: ✅ Referencing specific achievements and notable sales. ✅ Provided concrete metrics demonstrating success. ✅ Mentioned shared contacts with the employer, this built familiarity and trust.   This created a compelling narrative around his professional journey while making it easy for the employer to see his potential value.   Both candidates were kept in the process until the final stage.   The candidate who articulated themselves better was a favourite and was ultimately offered and accepted the job.   Despite strong credentials and impressing the hiring managers, the second candidate was not selected due to less effective communication of his experiences.   Here's some key takeaways to consider: 🏆 Speak in detail and build a picture about specific achievements and notable, interesting sales you won or even lost. 📊 Be able to confidently talk around your success metrics. 🤝 Utilise mutual connections to your advantage: Ensure these connections can vouch for you positively. Discuss how you know these connections and your relationship with them. Is there anything else you'd recommend?
