☄️☄️☄️3 things this last week
1️⃣ It’s good to have colleagues working in privacy who live nearby, who you can meet occasionally for a coffee (sadly no cake) In April I met Alan Cooke at Privacy Space. Alan lives not far from me (even if he does live in Essex, and I’m in Suffolk). We met at the lovely Stoke by Nayland Resort. Alan has played golf there in the past. I’ve had golf lesson (x2) but never played on the course, I was also a member of the gym for about 12 years. Back to our coffee and chat about all things privacy. What a journey Alan has had, it was good hearing how you got to where you are today, and I will be watching from a short distance, how the next stage of your journey progresses. I have a simple saying “we are not competitors, but colleagues”. Coffee again in the autumn?
2️⃣ Many of you will know, that at Data Privacy Simplified Ltd & BJM IG Privacy #Taining, we deliver a 5 module IG Practitioner course, delivered over 6 months. Once the course is completed we carry out a ‘Professional Discussion’ with the successful students. This is when we get to hear what the course meant to them. What I hear the most (as well as learning things they didn’t know before) is…. #CONFIDENCE. They now have the confidence, in delivering internal training, writing and reviewing policies, giving advice and support to staff and the organisation and much more. In one professional discussion this week, the organisation were so impressed with the progress, the student got a pay rise 😀 (result). The next cohort is in Oct/Nov. You can always ask for more info.
3️⃣ 2 weeks ago, we (well Tania Palmariellodiviney (MSc) she employs the staff) employed Karen Lawrence This week Tania has done a runner and legged it on holiday with Yagmur Sahin and Laura Palmariello, which means Karen has been left holding the fort with some clients. Don’t get me wrong, Karen is experienced and has hit the ground running. I was on a call on Friday with a client. Earlier in the week, Karen had been dealing with an issue for them. The client told my, Karen was “amazing, awesome, lovely and helpful and supportive” (words to that effect). I have to add, I was not surprised, and I’m sure it will not be the last comments we hear. I needed to tell Karen, but I was not going to do it via text, or email, that feedback needs to be verbal… I rang and told her. (Going back to number 1 above) Karen only lives about 40 mins away, looks like coffee and cake catch up with Karen soon will be on the cards. Positive feedback is important.
