“Mary served as an Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship student ambassador in the fall of 2017 and was a stellar team member throughout her time with us. Any organization would be very lucky to benefit from her exceptional initiative, leadership, organizational and business skills. In my role at UC Davis over the last 20 years, developing and implementing programs that serve graduate and undergraduate students, Mary is one of the shining stars I have had the opportunity to employ. She is hard-working, creative and highly intelligent. She is mature, responsible and has excellent written and verbal communication skills. Mary made an immediate impact by independently organizing and launching events to draw students from the Design department closer to our programs in innovation and entrepreneurship. Her inaugural event featured a panel of Design students and alumni and highlighted resources for students interested in starting their own entrepreneurial endeavors. The event attracted 65 attendees and was a great success. Mary employed her excellent design and creative skills to create compelling marketing and promotion pieces that were perfectly aligned with the rest of our institute’s marketing and web materials. She employed her excellent event planning knowledge to think through every detail of the two-hour event to run smoothly, from venue selection, room set up, catering, participant registration, audio-visual requirements and event promotion. Mary’s public speaking skills are excellent. As the moderator at the event, she was well prepared and guided the panelists' conversation in a very thoughtful and interesting way. In addition to her work organizing the panel, Mary has also promoted our programs and events across campus at numerous student clubs and organizations. She was part of a team of undergraduate students who have successfully built a larger audience for our programs through this kind of direct outreach. As a highly motivated student, she founded the UC Davis chapter of a Women in Business student club. Her initiative and drive to identify gaps in student programming and get something new successfully launched place her among the most exceptional students I have ever worked with. ”

Here are a snapshot of my deeply cherished, early moments that helped bring out the servant leader in me:
• Cooked community meals, managed game and food booths at the annual Harvest Festival, organized junior high social events, and coached the boys basketball camp via Knights of Columbus
• From junior high to high school, I “worked my way up" from a mass collections volunteer (Usher and Greeter) to a volunteer coordinator (Mass Captain). Occasionally, also was an altar server :-)
• Selected to give talks at various fellowship events (e.g., Youth Night, Unity Night) and prepared testimonies for the Catholic school student parent nights
• Facilitated candidates on Confirmation retreats and represented at monthly fellowship events (e.g., Friday Night Lights) -
