You can write a week's worth of posts. In 60 minutes. To do it... Use content batching. Here's how it works. Spend 20 minutes outlining your posts. Spend another 20 minutes writing them up. Spend the final 20 adding images and scheduling with a tool like Taplio. Remember... Alternating between writing, editing, and publishing is a terrible way to create content. I use AI a lot... It's my coding instructor brainstorming partner marketing expert and content clarity buddy. But by far, the best use case I've seen for advisers (so far) has been using AI for file notes. Don’t get me wrong – there are tons of new tools out there, and it’s easy to get distracted by the latest and greatest shiny object. But we’ve been using Microsoft Copilot in Teams for the past 6 months, and wow! Here’s what we have noticed since we started. Co-Pilot is really good at picking up our language, acronyms, and the things we commonly say in meetings. It’s almost like it’s becoming one of us. 😄 Its not perfect - but its getting better! In-person meetings can still be tricky when it can’t differentiate between more than two people in the room. But what used to take 30 minutes for a file note (and trust me, I’ve seen worse)... is now done in about 5 minutes. This means advisers can stop drowning in admin work and start adding more value to their clients’ experiences.

The risks of lazy AI... This is a warning for anyone considering using AI to write their blog content. AI is such a powerful tool for businesses, but don't get lazy. Use AI for: - Content ideas - Structure - Image ideas - SEO suggestions - Repurposing - FAQs - Key problems & objections - Title suggestions Just please don't use it to write the content without HEAVILY editing it first. It's boring, it doesn't convert, and you will damage your website in the long term, just like this person did.

Do you use the word "please" when you're prompting ChatGPT? People make fun of me because I always try to be polite when I'm writing prompts to ChatGPT / Claude. BUT... You should always be polite to AI! 🧑‍💻 It’s not just a quirky suggestion—politeness can actually improve your AI experience. Recent studies show that using polite prompts with tools like ChatGPT and Claude enhances results, especially in complex tasks. Excessive flattery? That can actually harm performance. (Research in the comments) It’s a matter of tone. Researchers found that polite prompts lead to fewer errors and more accurate outputs, mirroring the benefits of respectful human interactions. In fact, people who are courteous with AI tend to have stronger emotional intelligence in real-life relationships, too. The best LinkedIn writing rule I followed: Never taking advice from non-writers. "Have an ICP in mind and write only to them" "Just write using AI. Everything will be faster" "Write content in bulk. Create huge reserves" "Keep your posts short (around~400 words)" "Make your posts pretty by using fancy lists" "Elaborate action steps. Ideas aren't enough" "Always write being mindful of your endgoal" All bullsh*t if you ask me. Sure, they may make the whole process simpler. But simple rarely means "good". Following a script will make your writing: → Boring and lifeless → Basic and inhuman → Bad and mechanical No more of that. Cut the noise out. Here's the only advice you need: Write what you love until you love to write. Write about psychology, mindset, self-help, sports, business, music, filmmaking, commerce, coaching, and anything you'd love to pen down and explore. When you keep attaching writing with what you love.. You'll eventually turn writing itself into what you love. That's when you'll be consistent, make progress, and most importantly, not quit halfway into the journey.   If you won't take swimming advice from sprinters.. Here's another possible bullish signal 📈 that shows there could be a reversal in the next 24 hours. ⏰ Not only do we have a new falling wedge pattern on the 4H Chart 📊, but the price also fell right below the 200 Day EMA on the Daily Chart! 📉 It is now trading above this level and should act as support for a possible bounce higher. 📈🚀 There is also RSI Bullish Divergence forming here on the Daily Chart! "We have 100𝘴 of blog posts on our website, why aren't they converting??" (by converting, I mean getting quality leads) This is a very common question for B2B SaaS companies that have already been doing SEO and content for a while. I've edited and written dozens of B2B SaaS blog posts over the past 4 years, and I've noticed it boils down to 2 key things: --- 1️⃣  Focusing too much on quantity, rather than quality 9 out of 10 times a company says they're not getting good leads, or "content isn't working", it's because they've been focusing on content output. If you're an early-stage SaaS with zero articles on your website, then churning them out makes sense. But if you've already built a huge library of content? It's time to slow down and reassess. Because when you focus on "output" as a key content metric, bad things happen: 1. Your writers burn out. They just get better at doing what was asked of them, but not at actually "caring" about what they're writing.     2. There's no time and space for writers to do proper research about the target audience, search intent, and the subject matter. 3. As a result, your articles are bland and mediocre, instead of being genuinely helpful and unique. You sound like ChatGPT or like every other company in your field. And in a world of AI-written blog posts, if you're not unique or helpful, you might as well not exist.     --- 2️⃣  Focusing on search terms with little to no buying intent For some reason, most B2B SaaS companies start by: → creating 80% top-of-funnel (TOFU) pieces with little to no buying intent for your software (e.g. "what is data analytics") → and then creating 20% bottom-of-funnel (BOFU) pieces with high buying intent like "[X] alternatives" or "best [category] tools" I mean I sorta get it. It's mostly because: • BOFU content generally has a lower volume which means lower traffic (and companies want high traffic)    • companies are still wary about talking too much about their competitors on their blog    • it's 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨 hard to write great-quality BOFU pieces But the result of this is 10,000+ monthly traffic to your site but low-quality leads that don't fit your ICP. Because it's simple -- no matter how great your content is, it won't convert if your readers aren't in the market to buy a product like yours in the first place. (That being said, it doesn't mean you shouldn't create top of funnel pieces like ever, but that you need to do them well, AND have enough bottom of funnel on your website already.) --- These two aren't siloed either. Usually, both are happening at the same time, and this leads to frustration and blaming like "marketing ain't doing nothing". The solution? ✅  don't focus on content output, but rather on quality ✅  capture audiences who are ready to buy (whether that's via blog posts or another channel) Then, give it 6 months. Wait and see what happens :)

Marketing is pretty much centred around manipulation. For instance: - Presenting price in a certain way, 1.99 instead of 2.00 - Embellishing copy or images Or so goes the argument above from a non-marketer I was chatting to this week. The above is no different than picking a flattering attire or putting on make up. It’s all to serve for presentation. Working towards a favourable outcome. Saying that, this perspective around manipulation is legitimate. In that it captures a frequent portion of how marketing is executed in the market - poorly. One reason I want to highlight is a major misconception: sales resulting from effective marketing occur due to a push. But great marketing is always more of a pull. There’s a mix up that volume (a prerequisite due to most activities driving low conversion rates) is somehow related to force or effort. I don’t see cold emailing, LinkedIn messages, or outbound as push. They follow the same mechanics of LinkedIns ads, SEO or other “inbound” components - they aim to reach the intended audience to draw awareness to a solution. The medium matters less than the messaging and targeting. Most marketing & advertising is intrusive. Regardless of inbound, outbound, allbound etc’ But it works. If it didn’t, advertisers wouldn’t spend money on Google ads or Uber ads. It’s up to whoever runs buses, tube ads or digital billboards to give users an option to opt out like YouTube does. The concept of intrusive is slippery. Whether marketing is intrusive or not depends on whether you need it at the time it’s shown to you. A relevant Google ad for your specific problem when searching is splendid, but an irrelevant one is spam. It could be the same ad; but your needs are different. Circling back to pull / push. The only difference is one step. Pull is customer-centric in that it focuses on solving problems rather than just selling products/services. That’s all good marketing is, the package delivers value to the recipient in some form. Be it entertainment or education. As to whether or not it’s manipulative, entirely depends on how it was executed.

I'm a collector of many many many things marketing ideas, email newsletters, bookmarks (on multiple platforms AND browsers).... you get the idea. But it's not a problem despite what other people think. Some would say I need to just purge all the things: - Unsubscribe from emails - Delete the product backlogs - Throw away stuff on my desk - Delete old todo lists and marketing ideas - Remove inactive people from our email lists (OK yes, doing that today) For me, the answer isn't just purging it all. It's about having a system of organizing these ALL THE THINGS without getting overwhelmed. My "system" gets kicked off in one of 2 ways: 1. A time-based routine (i.e. once a week sort my tasks assigned to me) 2. A event (i.e. time to do some email ops while I write that newsletter). Then the "things" also have a next place to be organized: - A tier 1 "box/folder/pile" (High level topics like "marketing") - A tier 2 "subfolder" (inside the first topic like "email marketing") - A tag that runs cross system ("do today" or "save for later" or "podcast interview") It gets a little more complex than that and IRL, as there are other lifecycle to these items that-> may one day get purged -> moved to another pile -> or just sit there waiting to be re-discovered (I just don't do the recycling bin. All that automatic removal... yikes that thing is scary 😱 to me) For me, this puts my brain at ease (without the fear of losing things) and I get that other people would not be at ease in my system (and I would not inflict that upon them) It's not a problem because I don't lose track of things. I can always search and find them in my "system" of piles and never miss the important things (i.e. sending an email reply). 💡 It's not a problem because I don't get overwhelmed by it all It's a superpower because: - I get access to my collections that can't live in my brain. (All my notes, from that zoom chat with an expert, podcast insights, great ideas from newsletters, bookmarks from LinkedIn/X) - All my creative thoughts merged with what I find in the wonderful world of marketing & entrepreneurship. Now, it may not always be the most visually appealing I thank goodness most people can't see my "digital josh piles". I just enjoy collecting but the next big evolution for me is sharing more of this stuff in public (like this more on that in the near future where I hope it's succinct and valuable for readers 👀). At the worst it's a way for me to clarify my thoughts and learnings. If you're like me, don't be embarrassed about your collecting. Lean into being "that guy or gal" that can be a resource for your friends and can say: - "oh I have something for that" - "oh, there was a great podcast episode talking about that idea plus what tools to use... Give me a few and I'll find it". - "you know, you should really talked to XXX, you two would really connect" The ability to connect people and ideas at will is a superpower!

The BIGGEST mistake I've seen amongst post-exit founders and creator-consultants who want to attract more of their ideal customers into their ecosystem? → Starting a newsletter... (here's why) If you're trying to get more clients, starting a newsletter is the *last* thing you want to do. Why? 🔒 Most newsletters are closed platforms. There's no built-in reach. Unlike a social platform like LinkedIn, there's no algorithm that automatically serves your content to potential readers. You'll have to find them yourself by repurposing or reposting your content. (Hear it from me: I built a career on writing emails and newsletters.) -- 🪤 The Newsletter Trap Here are 3 scenarios I've seen SO many creator-consultants fall into, (especially if they're passionate about writing and want to publish a weekly newsletter): 🏓 Writing a newsletter is a hobby (not a business) A newsletter should help you get new leads. Without a system in place, writing a newsletter becomes a way to develop new ideas. *Not* as a way to get new leads. You can't spend all your time agonizing over what to write if your goal is grow your customer pipeline! -- 💸 Distraction from revenue. A newsletter needs focused attention to grow. To grow a newsletter as a sales channel, you'll need to figure out specific strategies and tactics to grow it. On top of figuring out what to write each week. Not ideal for a busy creator-consultant. -- 🤷🏻‍♀️ Having to choose between creative fulfillment and revenue. One of the most appealing reasons people write newsletters is for creative fulfillment. But if your #1 goal is to hit your first $5k or $10k month, I wouldn't recommend starting a new project just for that. It's not just a distraction. You're also more likely to *discontinue* this passion project if it's not contributing to revenue as quickly as you hoped. Tl;DR: Don't start a newsletter if you're just starting out. It's hard enough having to post regularly on LinkedIn... Without having to worry about creating a gigantic piece of content every week, too. -- That's it for today! 9 weeks. 1x four part video series 12x external SME’s and playbooks soured and written 1x 12,000-word guide 1x new homepage hub for the content 1x launch video 100s of creatives, emails and social posts All this from a very bare bones brief from me: ‘Hi all, as part of launching our new Enrich product, I’d like us to start a content series called something like: improve my funnel. Should be a mix of podcast, video and written content and all around the areas we can improve our funnel. Example: how to optimise forms to improve conversions (Instant Enrich) or direct AE routing for improving lead to opp conversion rates. Can you build a plan around this and share back to me to input into?’ On Thursday last week it went live. Anyone who has followed my posts will know we are a demand gen first org. We want to provide our audience and potential future customers with as much value up front, friction-free as possible. So when we introduced our Enrich product to the market, I wanted us to have a value-packed way to educate our audience on its benefits. I wanted us to find the ‘so what story’ behind the product. The plan was to create a resource in a variety of formats covering the entire funnel - highlighting how you can optimise each stage. To bring this to life, the team created a video series involving our internal SMEs on how we have optimised each stage of the funnel at Cognism. This content then fed into the 12,000 word guide - which went into more detail, offering examples for activities and initiatives we have run. And crucially the team then engaged with 12 external SMEs - experts in their industries - to interview them for their insights, creating a library of playbooks detailing examples on how they fixed problems or optimised stages in their respective funnels. This is what gave the campaign authority and opened up new audiences for us. So how do you go about measuring the success of such a campaign? We have what we call a ‘big rock’ dashboard. This is where we can see the campaign vitals and compare it to our previous big rock campaigns. Now as you can imagine - with a campaign like this with so much content - a big part of the success metrics will be around engagement. So we are measuring things like: 📈 Page views, time on page, bounce rate etc, web journeys started Organic post engagement, reach and shares But we are also measuring the business impact that this has on our inbound revenue number by looking at: 🤝 Assisted conversions (an assisted conversion is defined as a page view within a session that contains a demo request) And ultimately we will be able to track all this activity from ad impression right the way through to revenue and pipeline using tools like Hockeystack. #b2bmarketing #demandgeneration

Track EVERY single email and SMS click Track/tag these: Header/Hero Main CTA Discount Product Collection UGC Support Links Social Links Footer Links Etc. And watch the trends unfold. And focus your content around those trends. Your customer is telling you what they want to buy. Often, it’s not what marketers expect.

AI hasn’t changed the metrics that content marketers should focus on that much— But what *has* changed? The way we apply those same metrics to the content we use AI to produce. Because the main issues with AI content are… 1. Thin content that lacks depth and meaning 2. Redundant, fluffy content with no value 3. Hallucinations of false information But there’s no need to reinvent the wheel to gauge the quality of our AI-powered content strategy. The same metrics we’ve always used can do that: 1️⃣ Engagement Simply put, if people are reading our AI content… …they find it valuable. Easy. 2️⃣ Accuracy As stated above, AI loves to make sh*t up. The good news: AI tools like Perplexity make it mind-bogglingly easy to fact-check and find reliable sources for your work. 3️⃣ Originality AI likes writing repetitive fluff content, too— This is where humans need to come in and ensure every word provides real, tangible value. Because AI can’t replace proper copywriting, written by a skilled human who empathizes with their target market. So, what’s the big picture here? Old success metrics still work… ↳ But they need reframed for the age of AI Because we need to build real connection through your content now — be the voice people trust in a noisy place. And to nail that… You need to focus on: → Positive feedback from your audience (self-explaining and qualitative) → How long people engage with your content (indicates they want to know more about the topic, they follow your argumentation, and they appreciate the writing style) → Number of new engaged newsletter subscribers (indicates they like your content so much they’re willing to give you their contact information). → Conversion rates (number of people taking your desired action) (shows that you’re successfully convincing your audience and forcing them to act) … and make sure every piece is rich, accurate, and solves the reader’s problems. That’s our way of setting new standards… …and that’s the future of content marketing.

It's not all 🌞 and 🌈... Here's the hard truth about content strat... It's NOTHING without an engine of a content creator. Assuming you don't delegate all your work to AI (𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘤), you need some damn strong willpower. You need to haul 🍑. It's just the truth. The more you work on your content, the greater the rewards you'll reap. That applies to all things in life, but with content specifically, it takes time before you can see: - recognition or feedback from folks - any level of brand awareness at all - actual $$$ for your efforts It's why most people start off by doing content on the side before they ever take the plunge to do it full-time. BUT! (And this is a strong but)... If you do grow your content ecosystem, you greatly increase your chances of all three happening. Plus, you cement your legacy as a thought leader in your area of expertise. Sounds like a win 🤝 win 🤝 win (🤝 win?) to me. Let's acknowledge the level of effort it takes to consistently show up and make unique, interesting content... then keep it moving. Full steam ahead!

This is the number one metric every PMM should focus on. Creating more... ✅ ACTIVE USERS. Here are some questions to probe action: - What am I doing to drive active users? - How can I reduce the time to get them active? - Why are some accounts more active than others? This then drives all activation towards the north star: Active Users. - See what sales collateral gets users to become active. - Redefining conversion rate towards getting prospects active ASAP. - Keeping lifetime value (LTV) in the line of sight at all times.
