OSARCC launches exciting 2027 Strategy with support from Paul Holmes – PCH Business Consultants    New CEO Lauren Kendall at Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre approached OxLEP Business in late 2023 – inheriting a charity doing amazing work but experiencing diminishing returns and revenue.   OxLEP pointed Lauren in the direction of Paul Holmes – PCH Business Consultants Ltd Business Consultants and OxLEP Business Advisor, for help and support in moving the charity forward. At that point Lauren, as CEO, was operationally overwhelmed and struggling to find the time to think and plan strategically. “I’m hugely grateful to Paul for his wisdom, enthusiasm and support. I still remember our first meeting, and how refreshing it was to take a step back and revert to the ambitious, blue-sky thinking leaders need to have. Paul gave me the space and encouragement to think big, and it’s had a huge impact on me and the charity. His energy and experience is fantastic and I’m so thankful we’ve been able to work together, with the support of OxLEP.” Lauren   Setting the organisation up for success is critical, to stand out, the right structure, clear messaging, the right people in the right roles and all the aspects needed for success, planned.   The process has involved helping Lauren to step back, to be strategic, review the basic aspirations of the organisation as she joined and begin to think big, starting to become an inspirational leader in the sector.   The approach was to step back from what OSARCC thought was possible and ask, what would we like to achieve in the next 3-5 years? set the bar high! 5000 people supported each year, 5x increase in the number of people supported by the charity in 2023. A scary prospect and initially a pie in the sky aspiration.   Then the interesting part, imagining that day at the end of 2027, the charity having delivered support to 5000 people that year! and then asking what must be true to make it happen. Planning success showed Lauren it could be possible! but at a completely different scale to today – requiring a significant change in the approach! What it also created was the outline of a roadmap to make it happen!   Planning that organisation to run day to day without Lauren needing to be fully operational, was critical to allowing her to be the figurehead for the brand, engaging with benefactors, donors and organisations, in a radical change to the way fund raising had been done previously.   The strategy that Lauren then developed and recently approved by the Board of Trustees, is a huge step forward, embracing the strategic role of the CEO, the plan is not without challenges, implementing change and growth, just like any business, is a full-time job all by itself.   "It’s been great working with Lauren and OSARCC, to move from conversations of survival, to now planning exciting strategic targets, that deliver so much more to the Oxfordshire community".
