🤖 Robots won't be the first invention to increase productivity 10x, while reducing costs by 90%, in fact, they're following a familiar pattern. Much has been made about the story of robots in our society and future. But sifting past the dystopian narratives, we find data - and familiar trends. 🕰️ Historic Parallels: Similar to how cars replaced horses in the 20th century, humanoid robots are set to disrupt labor across industries. From corn and insulin production, to cameras and transatlantic travel, automation produces these same 10x increases in productivity with 90% drops in cost/price. 📈 Core Innovations Driving Change: Advancements in sensors, AI processing, actuators, and battery technology are key components to creating the robots capable of a "labor engine" that mimics human capabilities, and releases us from dangerous, boring, and tedious work, just like animals did in ancient history, and machines did in the more recent Industrial Revolution. 🗓️ Timeline for Change: It's estimated that over the next 15-20 years, humanoid robots will revolutionize how work is done globally, disrupting how we work, giving us a helping hand, and taking many jobs, while enabling other human jobs and abundance overall. 🌍 Economic Impact: Industries will experience a fundamental reshaping, creating new opportunities especially for areas that human beings do better than machines, while posing workforce challenges where AI or robots can beat us hands down. 🦾 Potential Outcomes: If managed well, this disruption could lead to unprecedented productivity and economic growth. If done sustainably, it could lead to Sustainable Abundance, an unprecedented level of freedom and prosperity for all of us. This is not just a technological evolution—it's a societal revolution, and one that's leading to #SustainableAbundance. Let's get busy building it the right way for the future we want. 🌿 https://lnkd.in/g-dWhNdD Check out the articles below to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gJSj2vWs https://lnkd.in/gJSj2vWs Want more inspiring trends like these? Cuby's Mobile Microfactories Cuby's CEO Aleksandr Gampel joined TWiST to discuss how mobile microfactories are transforming the construction industry. What is Cuby? • A mobile microfactory (MMF) designed to produce homes efficiently, deployed near construction demand. • Cuby handles the full stack: hardware, software, and labor. • Factory processes are brought directly to worksites, avoiding traditional prefabrication's high costs and risks. How it Works: • MMFs are containerized, portable, and set up in 8 weeks at new sites. • Homes are built using a 35-stage assembly system, reducing the need for specialized workers. Cost-Effective Innovation: • Homes cost ~$100/sq ft • MMFs are economically viable at 200 homes/year, with a $10M setup cost per factory. What do you think—can this model solve the housing crisis?

There is so much that is so damn impressive about Nominal's execution. The team identified a truly needed product in the world. More than that... They serve their customers. Sometimes Nominal is saving days of work for an engineer detangling the performance of new hardware in an autonomous fixed wing drone. Other times, helping implement a transformational change for engineering orgs, delivering iteration speed from simulation to range to unlock an RFP goal and contract win. They are building dual use -- powering the best of commercial and public sector teams. Whether a government contractor delivering on a $12b contract. A scaled public company, integrating AI into your roadmap on to your existing HW platform. A startup which is willing a first product into existence. Nominal is there for all the dual use hardware builders who live real time, live in physical world time. The real world runs real time. The real world runs Nominal and so excited to be on the journey. Also, hiring, https://www.nominal.io/, kind of a lot. If you are awesome, they want to talk to you.

🚨Boom! 8090 Industries portfolio company Armada led by Dan Wright and Jon Runyan lands another $40M led by Microsoft marking $100M raised to date after announcing its Series A and coming out of stealth in 2023 just 7 months ago and shares new customer partnerships with Haliburton and Skydio. 🌪 “Extreme situations like hurricanes reinforce the need for “edge” computing, the practice of processing data locally rather than sending it back to the cloud. “Lots of oil and gas companies are really very concerned about these types of disasters. You can’t have any latency. You have to be able to respond in real time.” Dan Wright, cofounder and CEO of Armada, While disaster response is the obvious application, Armada’s edge technology also has a big role to play in all sorts of remote environments where uninterrupted data access is critical. Think real-time safety monitoring at high-risk worksites, real-time emissions tracking for oil rigs, and automated operations for mines. In regards to the newly inked partnership with Microsoft: It’s a natural fit, says Pradeep Nair Armada’s founding CTO and a 10-year veteran of Microsoft’s Azure business. “If you look at all of these customers we’re hitting—oil, gas, and mining—these guys are legacy, traditional customers and Microsoft is their biggest vendor,” he says. The partnership with Microsoft “opens up the whole pipeline, without us needing to go through the whole procurement process.” Cc Kerem Ozmen Garuth A. It can be used for older people and people with knee problems. As well as giving the power to enhance the abilities of the fit athletic crowd. #Skip , a #wearable tech #startup that began as a secretive project inside Alphabet, exited stealth this week to announce a partnership with outdoor clothing specialist Arc’teryx. The deal is the first to bring Skip’s technology to market: “powered pants” that utilize a soft exoskeleton. The tech, called MO/GO, short for “mountain goat,” is a hybrid soft/rigid system designed to assist wearer mobility and boost the wearer while walking. Rather than actually walking for a person, it provides a 40% energy assistance to the quadricep and hamstring, while offloading work from the knees. TechCrunch first wrote about the technology in 2021, while it was still a project being developed in-house at Alphabet’s X Labs moonshot factory. 🏃♂️ Will you buy something like this? For fun or so your parents can go on longer hikes? ~~~ Enjoy this? ♻️ Repost it to your network and follow Valerie Bertele 🚀 for more news on #AI, #Technology and #Innovation 🧠

I’m so excited that we have started a series of posts about our startups from the current Deeptech Batch. Be sure to follow the Beamline Accelerator page on LinkedIn. What we publish there can be interesting to two groups of people: investors looking for the best #cleantech technologies and founders seeking opportunities to develop their startups. Today, we are sharing a short interview with enzum, a startup revolutionizing battery efficiency using advanced AI methods. I am proud to be part of a team that supports startups like enzum. Their approach to solving energy efficiency problems and integrating renewable energy sources is incredibly important for our future. Enzum’s AI-based solution optimizes battery life cycles, enhances battery health transparency, and maximizes energy trading revenues. Altogether, it sounds like magic. But that’s how truly innovative solutions should be characterized. Effective energy management is a key element in the transition to a sustainable energy future. According to BloombergNEF, the global capacity of installed energy storage systems is expected to grow to 411GW by 2030. That is 15 times the 27GW/56GWh of storage that was online at the end of 2021. Therefore, the importance of innovations like those offered by enzum is colossal! Hooray for the amazing female founders Mary Boryslawska and Ana Gerlich and the entire team working on the startup.

You’ve likely heard the phrase, “Hardware is hard,” referring to the challenges hardware startups face and investors’ hesitation to fund them. However, the robotics sector continues to raise significant funding, with $6.9 billion raised by 671 startups in 2023, and projections exceeding $7.5 billion for 2024. Key reasons include: 1. The trend of reshoring manufacturing to developed countries, necessitating automation with robots, AI, and IoT. 2. A growing shortage of skilled labor in developed countries. 3. Advanced AI capabilities for complex tasks. 4. Improvements in electronics making components cheaper and more precise. By the way, Y Combinator has highlighted robotics among top 20 categories for future investments in their request for startups. I hope one day to have my own android! https://lnkd.in/d-J4f3bF

🔈 Do Startup Employees Earn More in the Long Run? 🥁 A 2021 Organization Science paper by Olav Sorenson Michael Slavensky Dahl Rodrigo Canales Diane Burton shows that employees hired by startups earn roughly 17% less over the next 10 years than those hired by large, established firms (based on Danish data) ➡ Although the earliest employees of startups suffer an earnings penalty, those hired by already-successful startups earn a small premium. ➡ After being employed by a small startup, individuals rarely return to the large employers that pay more. 🚹 Obviously, they are a lot of non pecuniary benefits in joining a start up that are not necessarily accounted for there! #startup #entrepreneurs #earnings #management

Where startup founders go wrong often. Most startup founders don’t end up raising seed money. Their unique ideas get camouflaged and stereotyped by templatised investor presentations that call out the likes of TAM, SAM and the likes. But what is so unique and prestine about your idea, that needs to come out. The key to growing any business lies in focusing on what truly benefits your customers. Rather than prioritizing strategies aimed at rapid expansion, businesses should concentrate on becoming more valuable to their customers. Ask yourself: What can we offer to help our customers accomplish their tasks more efficiently and affordably? How can we price our products to ensure mutual value? What product support programs can we implement to guarantee customers fully benefit from our products throughout their lifecycle? Finally, how can we maintain meaningful connections with our customers, evolving a relationship as trusted and cherished as those with brands like Apple, Toyota, or Sony?
