Money spent on #intermediaries is not leaving football, instead is being reinvested in players through the agencies that while young players are not generating any fees spend money on them. Considering the limitations imposed by English legislation to bring players from abroad, most of those players are over 23 years old and therefore do not trigger training compensation. If a player arrives as a free agent, also does not trigger solidarity mechanism...but still an agent has to be paid. It is simple if #FIFA wants to grant more money to training clubs it only has to increase the % of solidarity mechanism, increase the payment for training compensation and not limit it to be paid until the player is 23... many countries have legislation that limits the amount of money to be paid to agents and intermediaries in any industries.

Equity v Cash deals in Formula 1… Does the need for regular cash injections mean teams will never fully embrace equity opportunities? There is a growing trend among global sportspeople of taking equity in “start ups”, as opposed to cash in household names, using their profiles to grow the brand and reap the rewards in the long run - so why don’t teams jump on the bandwagon? High profile examples include: - Harry Kane - Our Pure Planet & Reflo® - Roger Federer - On - Lewis Hamilton - ALMAVE And so the list could continue…. This got me thinking about Formula 1 and trying to work out why this trend hasn’t made it into the paddock yet. Yes, I get the need for cash flow with the budget cap and the amount of money that needs to be invested into performance, however, the budget cap is too high for some teams due to lack of investment/sponsorship and there are costs that sit outside the budget cap that have huge impacts on what goes on on the track. Namely: - Facilities (including wind tunnels) - Drivers - Highly paid staff (e.g Adrian Newey) The above, in particular, facilities, require significant capital investment not achievable for all teams, yet there is direct correlation between the best facilities (and the other two) and where teams finish in the Constructors Championship. I’d love to see a team near the back of the grid, in need of a capital injection to build new facilities, to look at taking an equity deal in a category that doesn’t bring in a lot of cash, use their global schedule to grow the brand, and exit for a significant amount a few years down the line (easier said than done I know…) *or a team at the top to hammer home its advantage! I’d love to talk to commercial departments working at the below teams about whether this is part of your strategy and if not, why it’s not a route you have gone down. Ahead of the UEFA Champions League Final of the Men on Saturday night, I had the opportunity to attend the UEFA Women's Champions League Final last weekend in Bilbao ⚽🏆 In below article I share my observations of the event as well as the opportunities for further growth 🚀. In a nutshell, it was a terrific experience and one could really feel the positive development and excitement that Women's Football has experienced over the last years. The areas that from my point of view need further improvement in order to reach more people, appeal to new target groups and in turn grow revenue of the competition to be re-invested into the game revolve around the following: 1. The further development of the event product to reach new target groups ⚽🎙 2. The further involvement and positioning of sponsors as "change makers" and the enhanced activation of that message ⚡ 3. The diversification of the broadcast distribution and overall content maximization 📺 📱 4. The match scheduling to avoid conflicts with major men's competitions ⏲ While some of these topics certainly require relevant "heavy lifting" across the entire European football ecosystem, others can be implemented more easily. I'd be curious to hear your point of view on my observations. To all scouts, Heads of Scouting and Sporting Directors: What labels do you use in your scouting reports for the final player assessment? Why do you believe that this contributes to better decision-making? Do you use separate labels to describe a player's potential? Over the past few years, I have visited several clubs and engaged in discussions with colleagues during seminars and other events. I've noticed that there are many different approaches to labeling. We have moved away from using 'First Choice / Back-up / Follow-up / Negative'. Currently, we simply opt for 'Sign/Follow-up/Don't sign'. The distinction between First Choice and Back-up was too subtle. Additionally, we have introduced separate labeling to assess a player's potential, along with estimating their current level compared to our own players. Any other ideas or considerations? Spain 🇪🇦 England 🇬🇧 It is clear that the Arab sheikhs' commitment to English football, buying clubs, has brought a significant improvement in recent years They have managed to grow a little each year, leaving behind archaic models and betting on many Spanish coaches, as the same example for years of an incredible job by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City FC, or by Mikel Arteta himself with similar concepts but with different personalities or for example a very good coach like Unai Emery, also a coach I have learned a lot All of them ond others leaving a legacy . All of them and many others have known how to transmit a different football language that has influenced English football in a very significant way, all of this is also bearing fruit, in a better development of young talents, it has also permeated from grassroots football, where footballers grow up with a greater training giving rise to players like Bellingham, Foden etc And what can we say about Spain, it has been creating a school around the world for decades, more than about the What ..? Al Is it about the how? How are things done? Do you train how to play? Do you play how you train? both ? the concepts? the idea? the identity? the model? The language of football? The best coaches? For me, beyond Sunday's result. Spain for its game, for its style, for its training, for its trainers, (Yes, more for those from the base) with this number of young people who come out with such strength, Yamal, Nico, Fermin, Pedri etc., and the many who They have not come but they have a great future?. How not to remember the base trainers and their importance. The best model, the best methodologies, the best trainers. Yes, Spain has already won that European competition. The result is the least. "The way...it already makes Spain the winner". Is the winner of an example of global training that goes far beyond the result or winning a European Championship or a World Cup. In Spain there are many things to improve regarding infrastructure, facilities, methodology, or how children learn and much more. But one thing is clearnsith all this : "Spain is and will continue to be an example of global football high performance training" A formative mirror where you can enter and learn. It has been for England, which with money has managed to implement it very quickly, and for many other countries that are trying to do it, it will also be an example for many countries. The base is the best tool. And when one is a champion, and does it in that way that characterizes Spain, he knows perfectly well that the result is no longer the most important thing.
