How to build Shopify cheaper and faster | SOPs for designers 🚀 Very recently worked on a project and realised that Shopify Optimised design isn't quite standard practice (even when designing for Shopify 💀). The biggest reason, I suspect - most people don't know what "shopify optimised" looks like. So that's where I'm poking my phat nose, and helping out. I'm always tinkering with internal SOPs and checklists so that if there's an emergency, I can work with any talent and get them up to speed ASAP. Consider this a summarised version, so that you can build your own processes and get high quality work from whoever you're working with! Let me know if I missed anything out! If you're a designer, pls don't beat me (but also, I don't care - this needed to be said)

The Web Design wars have really heated up over the last few years... The most exciting and trending platforms have got to be Webflow and Framer. The designs, animations, speed and specifically the community of developers and designers pushing these platforms forward is amazing. Despite this, WordPress still runs the game when it comes to CMS and web design tool usage. 800m + websites use WordPress - 8.5m + use Elementor - 2.2m + use Divi - 300K + Beaver Builder 8.5m + use Wix 4.5m + use Shopify 3.5m + use Squarespace 200K + use Webflow 35K + use Framer *These are just numbers from I've found online* So should you be moving away from WordPress? No, if it's working for your business, there is no need! But, the design community behind Webflow and Framer are providing some of the most exciting, modern and fun designs I've seen in years. WordPress designers and developers have become very templated in the last few years, on top of the platform requiring essential upgrades. I still love some of the stuff that the Beaver Builder community is doing. Shopify is still the go to option for Ecommerce businesses. But.. Framer and Webflow developers / designers are not as SEO savvy as the majority of WordPress developers. If you have created a Webflow or Framer website recently, it is essential that if you want to perform well on search engines, you should consult an SEO expert. I've come across a fair few websites with issues recently and business owners are not aware how badly this could affect their performance.

Over the last few years now I've became more of an accessibility advocate to try and make a more positive experience on the internet for everyone. Website accessibility is the fundamental practice of ensuring your website is usable for all visitors, including those with disabilities, impairments, and limitations. With one in five people now living with a disability in the UK I can show that not only is it the right thing to do but that I care about your users. After some recent accessibility testing with an external partner I realised I still have a lot to learn but I'm excited to continually champion website accessibility standards. #accessibility #webstandards #wcag #a11y

Doubling your form conversions? Seems too good to be true! I was doing some design work with a client around optimising their forms and it made me think about some best practices. When designing your forms, minimise the number of fields. Stick to the essential questions! Each additional field adds friction that could lead to drop-off. Forms with 3 or fewer fields have the highest conversion rate and conversions drop by nearly 50%(!!) when forms expand from 4 to 6 fields. It's amazing how flipping the colour spectrum can give you a completely different feel. Here are some colour tests we've been running for a new client for their app we are designing. Many app UIs are very similar in terms of colour deployment, for good reasons such as accessibility and ease of use. However, trying new combinations can provide a slightly different approach and give you more ownership over a certain colour palette. Now, colour isn't just about what looks nice or how it works in a UI; it's a very considered process of the brand's visual identity to connect with your target audience. For example, you may have already chosen your favourite colour palette from the image below... but if I said this was a product aimed at students, aged 18-26 (I can't go into too much detail about the personas and product, obviously), which colour palette would you recommend? Left, middle, or right? #colour #UXUI #design
