As I reflect on a busy but insightful couple of days at Learning Technologies Exhibition & Conference last week couple of things stand out more than ever: Heather Stefanski and Chara Balasubramaniam said it best in their talk; collaboration is paramount to learning success, across functions. Lynn Rodgers further solidified this sentiment in hers and Gemma Paterson showed, as expected, that embedding the right learning and performance culture is the foundation on which learning success is built in any business. As elements of knowledge become outdated quicker than ever the need has never been greater for peer to peer learning across a business in ANY industry! AI is here to stay in the L&D world but it will NEVER replace the transfer of tacit knowledge between peers. It will NEVER provide you with the personal guidance, support and advice of someone who has been there and done it before you. It will NEVER understand nuance and it will NEVER sponsor your ideas to boost your career. So what is the takeaway? Personal connection and collaboration is and will continue to be the cornerstone of #learninganddevelopment success; so let's tie it to tangible business outcomes, stop ignoring the need for formal mentoring and invest in all of our people to make a difference! #LT24UK #mentoring #talentdevelopment (Brandon Carson I took your advice and 2 days later when I flew to Seattle my first stop was the original Starbucks at Pike Place Market)

#Enablement Teams of One, where you at? 🙋‍♀️ In my new role, I am one-of-one for the first time in my enablement career. It's an awesome challenge and I am loving it, but it got me thinking... how do we single-shingle enablers get the kind of support, feedback, brainstorming, etc that typically comes with working on a team? Below are a few of my ideas, add yours in the comments! 🎯 The first one is obvious because we're already here, but LEVERAGING LI! Whether it's posting a question to a broad audience, pinging enablement connections across the globe, or reading up on what others are doing, there is SO MUCH happening in the Enablement space on LinkedIn, we'd be foolish not to get plugged in and stay up to date on this platform. Building a network of folks in the space not only helps you stay educated, it's also foundational to growing your own career, as well as hopefully your future team! 👬 Communities, like The Enablement Squad on Slack or the Revenue Enablement Society mentorship program on Upnotch, are amazing for getting help on specific needs, having space to vent, getting a pep talk or seeking guidance. (Btw, I'm available as a mentor on the RES Upnotch group if you want to grab time with me! Also had an amazing chat with THE Lori Richardson as a mentee two weeks ago, what a gem 💎 ) 🎟 Events! I can't help it, I'm an events gal. Whether it's conferences and summits, dinners, meetups, hackathons... I don't care. Get me there in person and I thrive on the energy, the collaboration, the camaraderie, and the creativity that's sparked when you put a bunch of enablers in a room. I know it's hard, with event+travel costs, time away from work, etc. but I'm always quick to point out that a couple of events a year is A LOT cheaper than another headcount 😉 How else do you stay on top of your Enablement game as a team of one? —— 👋 Hi, I’m Fiona. Loved co-hosting an intimate roundtable lunch last week with HR & Wellbeing leaders from across the UK. The theme was all around delivering and measuring ROI on wellbeing initiatives. Alongside some interesting discussion there was also a lot of laughter! Thank you Fiorela Carmona for the great selfie and Pippa Andrews, Thiago Sequeira Rapp, Tim Goodchild, MCIPD and Pilou van Staalduinen for your energy and enthusiasm! Some key takeaways: -Exec engagement in today's environment is key. Give the compelling reason why and compare any investment you're asking for to the overall company budget to show how small it is for the impact it could have. -Data is more important than ever. The best partners are those who share it transparently and use as a tool for improvement or business insights. -Having solutions that are personalisable at scale are key.
