The lifespan of a website is a topic that often comes up for us at Sixtwo especially when new PHP updates or updates in general are released. It often encourages clients to review their website, sometimes websites are so old that WordPress plugins are not compatible which sometimes forces companies to rebuild their website. Sadly, this can mean little time, budget or thought has gone into the rebuild and companies can be stuck with a website that could have had more potential. In a nutshell, our advice is always to review your website often, don't leave it so long, it may LOOK fine on the front end but the back end of the site could be brink of falling apart. In the long run, you won't save money and could be left with a rushed mediocre website.

I don’t think the “limited spots available” sales copy messaging works that well unless you’re: 🌲 a very in-demand business owner with thousands of followers etc. where your limited spots will genuinely get snapped up as soon as you release them 🌲 down to your final spot The same way a message of “just 4 days left to go” doesn’t make people rush to buy, but “just 2 hours to go” does… Saying “4 spots available” doesn’t bring the urgency you need but “final spot” does. We’re all a bit too used to this kind of messaging and it doesn’t have the impact it used to. This kind of scarcity only works when people are truly cutting it fine ✂️ Rely on this messaging only right at the end of your launch or when your programme is almost full. There are LOADS of great ways to sell using emails. But this isn’t one of them 👇 ❌starting your emails with the sale❌ PUSHING what you have to sell isn’t going to: 👉build relationships 👉build trust 👉build confidence 👉or, build sales. SEO has been dying since 1997. "I’m beginning to believe that search engines are a dead-end technology and fretting over where your site comes up is a big waste of time." – Richard Hoy (26yrs ago) Richard was the first on record to announce the death of SEO, but certainly not the last. Other notable "deaths" since then: - Web 3.0 - Google Ads - Social media - Voice assistants - Featured snippets - Zero-click searches - Every Google update - TikTok "the new search" - ChatGPT replacing Google Here's the reality: - 15% of searches are brand new - Searches grow by ~10% every year - There are 8.5B Google searches daily - SEO is a $100B+ industry (and growing) - Search engines and SEO will always evolve - Search habits will take a long time to change Block out the noise. Continue learning, consistently repeating the fundamentals, and adapting to new technologies. SEO is only “dead” for those that don't. I'll leave you with one last quote from Richard: "Search engines are dying. In fact, I would say they are dead already and we just don’t know it yet." SEO, SERPS, ICP, CMS.... A couple of years ago, I couldn’t have told you what any of these meant. Fast forward to today and SEO has become one of my favourite parts of writing. I think of SEO as a mix of creativity and calculations or, a mix of art and maths. When I chose what subjects I wanted to do at school, I chose art and maths, and whenever anyone asked why (because apparently, these subjects don’t go together), the answer always seemed obvious - because I like them. Now, years later, I can apply both of them to my SEO writing. And it works. One of my clients asked me to update their service pages in February, and three months later, the results are positive with organic traffic and lead conversions growing steadily. How's that for a winning formula? Creativity + Calculations = Some awesome and effective SEO. Could Google changes and evolving buyer behaviours knock you off your search perch? If you stay blind to the dangers of sub-par web content, it may – and soon. I spent much of Friday on search engine optimisation. Remedy is not an SEO specialist - but we do specialise in content, which is coming ever more centrally and critically into position as a search driver. So I spent the time making sure every content page and case study and thought leadership article on a client site was as sharp as it could be for Google, as well as for visitors, with all the back end meta data mapped to a clear keyword strategy. I want Google to have zero doubts about its indexing and focus. It made me reflect on how companies without this level of content quality and attention may fare, as search changes its face, and buyers seek more. Change is happening, and at a frightening speed. There are TWO factors at play: ✨ Google is upping its AI game - European users will soon see AI powered overviews, already out to millions in the USA in May this year. They will appear ABOVE normal search results. You know what that means? Everyone gets shunted down - further to scroll for every result. 🔍I was browsing the new B2B Buyers Survey 2024 last week, too. And unsurprised to see that web search and websites remain the very top of the resources buyers use. Good website content is ❗critical❗ to both users, and search engines – and they are both increasingly intolerant of thin and uninformative content. Google already increased its scrutiny of content quality – and with increasing pickup of AI generated content, crappy SEO-first blogs truly won’t cut it much longer. Users too are looking for QUALITY. ►77% of the buyers in the Demand Gen survey said relevant content that speaks directly to them was their top ask. ►After that, content that demonstrates expertise around specific industry trends.  ►Coming in at a poor third was product pricing and competitive information - which many brands put first. Of course, written content and web search is only the tip of the search marketing iceberg. There is voice and visual search to consider, and the different roles of video and audio content as well as text. The importance of good text is enough to be getting on with, certainly for my business. ⚠️So, a warning. We don’t yet know the exact impact of Google AI on search results. But it’s pretty likely that it’s going to be significant. If you have relied on quick SEO articles churned out for rankings, it’s now time for a content strategy that will stand up to the changing dynamics of search. AI will certainly be seeking out the authoritative, deep and informative sources - while Google SERPs will also depend on quality. Thought leadership content, long and informative articles, USEFUL content will be the new gold standard. It may be time to take action. Or, you may find you drop off your search perch pretty darn fast. #seo #marketingcontent #contentmarketing #searchmarketing
