Don’t measure a supplier relationship when all is good in a supplier relationship……measure it in the resilience of when times are challenging. That period of challenge between a buyer and supplier is key and vital. It isn’t easy but Procurement isn’t easy. Over the last 25 years I have seen Procurement go from a back office function to a front line budget delivery at board level. Rightfully so but also a challenge to do so sustainably.

Recently, I had the privilege of attending LogiPharma.  Pivotal themes are still the one shaping the future of our profession: technology, sustainability, financial pressures, supply disruptions, value/volume shifts, and innovative delivery solutions to patients.  My key takeaway for this 2024 session are the following : Supply Chain is more than ever a modelling function no longer confined to the operational backend; it has emerged as the powerhouse of innovation and transformation. External pressures, such as technological advancements and sustainability imperatives, have propelled supply chain professionals into the spotlight. Yesterday i attended the CIPS event in London titled - CIPS Sustainable Procurement & Supply Summit. A day well invested in my view. Some great speakers who really held the room and created a learning environment and understanding of a really challenging topic. My key take aways are as follows: 1 - Procurement have a leading role to play in ESG/Sustainability 2 - It starts with data 3 - All of a companies Sustainability data is really 'supply chain' I usually leave the Oval having had a great day and yesterday was no exception.
