Exciting news from the FTTH Council Europe! 🇪🇺 🇬🇧 The latest rankings for 39 European countries reveal the UK's significant progress in gigabit-capable "full fibre" broadband. By 2029, the UK is aiming to reach 29.6 million homes, up from 17.1 million today. Despite starting later than others, the UK has made remarkable strides in full fibre deployment over the past five years, now ranking as one of the fastest builders in Europe. Growth is accelerating, with 4.7 million premises passed this year alone, making the UK the fastest-growing country in the FTTH Council's latest rankings. Urban commercial builds have driven much of our full fibre coverage, supported by initiatives like Openreach's plan to reach 25 million premises by December 2026. The UK's market penetration rate has risen to 17.1%, coverage now spans 57% of homes, with a take-up rate of 29.9%. While catching up, EU39 countries lead with a 34.7% market penetration. Looking ahead, the UK is forecast to significantly expand its full fibre reach. By 2029, aiming to cover 29.6 million homes. While some challenges persist, the UK's commitment to expanding full fibre remains steadfast, and Fibre UK is looking to be at the forefront pushing boundaries and providing connectivity across the nation! #fibreuk #fibreconnectivity #ukgrowth
