Last week I commented on the proposed P2A credit risk approach for SDDTs. Today I'm looking at concentration risk. The current HHI approach was always a bit pointless for SDDTs that are concentrated in the UK by their very nature and tend to have a limited number of wholesale counterparties, so I see the proposed change to a fixed % add on for credit risk RWAs that apportion to retail lending and everything else (the wholesale) component as a welcome simplification. I'd be interested to hear how much firms agree with the PRA's assessment that this won't change the overall concentration risk add on - what do you think?   For single name concentration risk, the PRA proposes to engage with firms where the aggregate of large exposures (those exposures of greater than 10% Tier 1 capital to a single or group of connected counterparties) exceeds 300%. Given that small firms where £130m is less than 25% of Tier 1 capital can have a LE of up to 100% to a single financial institution I can imagine quite a few would be hitting the 300% aggregate limit. For others, such as the overseas banks not captured by the new SDDT regime, this provides an interesting insight on where the aggregate of large exposures may start to tip regulatory interest.

Today, City Hive's Stewardship Council of fund gatekeepers representing $2trn in AUM have issued a letter to data providers and platforms calling for the ACT Signatory status to be added to firm- and fund-level information as a vital data point and screening tool for fund selectors to assess culture and behaviours.
