Invited to join the Trades Awards judging panel, following Richard Irvin's sponsorship of the Best Trades Business 11+ employees award, based on my experience, business acumen and expertise. Carried on from a personal perspective in 2019 and 2020.
The judging is a rigorous process including pre-scoring to determine shortlisted finalists, with meetings and interviews to discuss and evaluate the entries before deciding on the winners. Took on the role of Head Judge in 2018. -

The Parent Council plays a role in supporting parental involvement in the work and the life of the school, while also providing opportunities for parents to express their views on children's education and learning. I provided support in their chosen career and offered them the chance to contribute to our business and to access a career or a professional trade which would help establish them in an organisation. This also meant that we achieved one of our objectives in terms of our social responsibilities, supporting the local community and our training provider partners.

Commission for Developing Scotland's Young Workforce Report
The Scottish Government
Invited to take part in a consultation which contributed to the final report from the Commission for Developing Scotland's Young Workforce, led by Sir Ian Wood. The report contains a number of recommendations from leading figures in Scottish education, business and equalities groups.
The report focuses on enhancing Scotland's vocational education and on the importance of business and industry working with schools and colleges as a key factor in ensuring young people are more prepared…Invited to take part in a consultation which contributed to the final report from the Commission for Developing Scotland's Young Workforce, led by Sir Ian Wood. The report contains a number of recommendations from leading figures in Scottish education, business and equalities groups.
The report focuses on enhancing Scotland's vocational education and on the importance of business and industry working with schools and colleges as a key factor in ensuring young people are more prepared for employment and better informed in their career choices. There are also a number of recommendations on encouraging and supporting employers to recruit more young people.
