💰“Top Tips For Negotiating Prices Via Email With Suppliers”   1️⃣ Use a Positive Tone:   Keeping a positive, respectful and understanding tone is beneficial to preserve the relationship with your supplier for future cooperation and networking purposes, even if the supplier cannot accept your request.   2️⃣ Compliment The Supplier:   Compliment the supplier on their efforts in drafting a business proposal and arranging a quote for your company.   Mention your company's history with the supplier - For example, thanking the supplier for all the orders they fulfilled in the past may encourage the vendor to consider your business relationship when reviewing your price offer.   3️⃣ Explain Your Perspective:   After you build a rapport with the supplier, try to explain your position in clear terms and clarify your firm budget that you are willing to spend.   4️⃣ Request a Discount:   When requesting a discount, be sure to include both the percentage of the discount and the total price you would end up paying.   This shows the supplier that you have carefully examined their proposal and have a unique counteroffer.   5️⃣ Set Clear Terms:   This allows the supplier to be well-informed of your position without feeling threatened - For example, try explaining that you would not be able to purchase their product or service without a discount.   6️⃣ Hint at an Incentive:   Try to hint at an incentive for the supplier if they accept your counteroffer. Examples for incentives you may hint at include; your willingness to build long-lasting business cooperation in the future or implying that you will buy in large quantities to get a volume discount.   7️⃣ Consider a Time Frame to Receive a Response:   Consider choosing a specific date that is at minimum two business days, and no more than one business week from the date you are sending the email.   Also, it is important to consider a time for offer validity, in order to be able to find another supplier or expand your budget in the event that the supplier does not accept your request for a discount. #Negotiation_via_Emails #Negotiation #Price_Negotiations #SRM #Partnerships #Procurement_Excellence #Procurement_and_Supply_Chain_Insights

Seconding this, as a procurement professional from an engineering background, I found it interesting and even joyful to handle IT infrastructure projects, Saas implementation solutions and subscription based agreement not to mention designing SLA matrices. Also, HR success is another story with different taste, however, in each category a real professional should alert to business user differences and cultures cause that is the defining line for the strategy towards successful procurement championing.
