⭐⭐⭐ Interview Tip ⭐⭐⭐ 💻 For those of you embarking on the job search, it can be a nervous and/ or exciting time 🤗 When invited to 'that' interview, for that job you *really* want, we all want to showcase our experience and tell the interviewer everything we can do 🌬 But remember to take a breath ⌛ Take a moment to think about what you've been asked, answer concisely and then ask if they would like you to elaborate 😱 It's a common mistake to go too far in depth with the answer, when you've already answered the question 10 minutes ago 🙋‍♀️ Every now and again, take a few seconds to pause which can allow the interviewer to interject with the next question 🤞 Good luck #InterviewTips #Recruiter #JobInterview #JobHunting

Hard to believe that this is still happening in 2024. She was sacked after being signed off sick for 7 days following a miscarriage. Hard to believe! And I think the employer got off lightly with a £15,000 payout. Clear pregnancy discrimination without any consideration of the physical and mental suffering ! According to the NHS, it's thought around 1 in 8 known pregnancies will end in miscarriage so we need to do better to support employees at this difficult time. #pregnancydiscrimination #pregnancyloss #employmentlaw #doingtherightthing #hrconsultancy #hrsupport #dynamicpeoplesolutions

⭐⭐⭐ Job Hunting Tips ⭐⭐⭐ 👀 Not all roles will be advertised on every job board; companies have to pay to advertise - it's likely they will only advertise on one - check them all 👉 Some companies may not advertise anywhere except their website, so keep an eye on companies you would like to work for 🔗 Connect to employees in companies you would like to work for; sharing open jobs on their newsfeed is free so it's likely they will be on there 🙌 Don't be put off by the number of applicants on a LinkedIn job - if it's a good match, still apply 📜 Some manager's still like a good cover letter, so if it's a role you really want, take some time to put one together 🗺 Look on google maps for companies in a commutable distance to you; check their website for jobs and connect with their HR team/ likely hiring manager on LinkedIn 🤗 Don't be afraid to speculatively contact people at companies you're keen to work for, they may have a role coming up that's awaiting sign off/ not yet advertised/ coming up soon 📣 Reach out to old colleagues and ask if there are roles coming up where they are, a recommendation goes a long way That's all for now, any questions for me... comment below... 🐠 Just Keep Swimming #JobSearch #JobHunting #LookingForWork #JobHuntingTips #FindWork #Recruiter #RecruiterTips

Who cringes at the interviews on the Apprentice? Of course this is all about great TV – but is it really? Supporting people through a job interview is important. Many employers don’t think through how to create a good atmosphere when conducting interviews. Helping someone relax at a job interview means you will see them in the best possible light. ✔️ Before the interview takes place remind the candidates to thoroughly prepare for the interview. A reminder to research the company and prepare any questions they might have. Share the dress code you would expect and advise them to prepare for their journey and arrive a little early. ✔️ During the interview share words of encouragement and remind them of their qualifications and strengths. Sometimes, a little reassurance can go a long way. ✔️If appropriate, share a light joke or amusing anecdote to help lighten the mood and reduce tension. ✔️ Remind them that it's normal to feel nervous, acknowledging and accepting these feelings can sometimes alleviate them. Is it ok to hug a colleague at work? This is one of the questions that I have been asked most often when explaining the changes in legislation around 'preventing sexual harassment at work' In the training courses I have delivered, it's clear that my Yorkshire clients are not out to deliberately offend their workforce, far from it. However, we must understand that it is the person on the receiving end of a behaviour who determines if it is unwanted behaviour. It is irrelevant if other people find it OK. It can be a difficult line. Employers must help their teams understand what could be deemed sexual harassment and everyone in the workplace has a responsibility to prevent sexual harassment. This isn't just HR best practice, there is a new duty on employers to prevent sexual harassment at work that has been in place since October 2024.

🤝 Had a great morning at an event at Knights with North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Synergy Recruitment Ltd focussed on the Employment Rights Bill & inclusive recruitment practices. The discussions around the proposed legal changes to Employment Law and building truly diverse workplaces were both timely and thought-provoking. Special shoutout to my new friend and professional confidante Lorraine Fitzpatrick who also attended. It's amazing how a chance meeting just 4 weeks ago has blossomed into such a valuable connection. They say some of the best professional relationships start with genuine chemistry, and I couldn't agree more! Should employers use psychometric testing or other online assessments in their interview processes?   I posted this poll last week and the results are in – 82% of you consider testing in interviews a waste of time. People are overwhelmingly against testing.   It begs the question – why do so many employers still use online testing?   I can understand why employers continue to test. It gives them some assurance that they are making the right decision. That candidates are not somehow pulling the wool over their eyes.   I do sympathise with candidates. People’s experience should speak for itself. These tests are often not relevant at all to the job at hand. How can this be a fair assessment?   Great candidates can also have a bad day. They may be a new parent suffering from lack of sleep. Been overworked that week by their boss. Woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Is it fair to dismiss a candidate’s chance at a dream role because of one bad result? No, it isn’t.   What alternatives do you suggest to online testing?   Comment with your thoughts.
