Technical vs person specs? When someone says "I need someone really good", we need to stop and think what that means. Are you looking for the person who was top 2% of their CPA exams and who contributes to IFRS rules construction, or do you mean someone who can get the best out of a team of diverse finance professionals? Because, newsflash, 💥 these are not necessarily the same person. Many moons ago, I was bemoaning the fact I had someone who was "perfect" in paper for a role but had not impressed at interview, and had the personality. One of my colleagues was completely unphased by this, and said "sure, we should always have a person spec". From then on, I always have 😀. #recruitment #personalityvsabilities #personspec
