Chobani, under the leadership of its founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, introduced "Super Milk," a long-lasting low-fat dairy product developed for those in need. This high-protein, nutritious new product is specifically produced to aid people affected by natural disasters and those in need in regions where Chobani operates. Hamdi Ulukaya stated, “We know that food is a basic need, and this need becomes even more critical during natural disasters. 'Super Milk' is developed as a high-protein, high-fiber, nutritious, and long-lasting dairy product. We are proud to assist those in need during tough times.” Chobani Super Milk will be produced at an average of 65 tons per month in collaboration with local food banks and distributed to disaster areas and food banks in New York and Idaho. According to the brand's statement, "Super Milk" has a shelf life of 9 months and can be stored without refrigeration. The product, available in 1-liter packaging with 4 servings, contains 50% more protein, 25% less sugar, and 25% more calcium compared to traditional milk, and is enriched with vitamins A and D. #milk #dairy #chobani

Representation I had a moment… and it’s worth talking about. If I am honest, the representation of people of colour in the workplace is not something I have always been conscious of, even as a British South Asian. Call me lucky, privileged, or naïve, but I hadn’t given much thought to my race or acknowledged the prejudiced experiences I had buried deep in my subconscious, until the Black Lives Matter movement. Now, like many of us, I can’t help but notice representation, or the lack of it, all the time. So a couple of weeks ago, at our Cocktails In The City activation in London, where we worked with the wonderful team at Thin White Duke to create “Asian-inspired” cocktails, it really hit me when myself, Rico Grewal, Varun Sarna and Sherwin Acebuche were all standing together in our corner of  Bedford Park promoting our authentically Asian brands... We were doing it! Creating the representation that is needed in the drinks industry. (📸 Kodak moment). Not only through the brands themselves, but the people behind them too. Kudos to Andrew Scutts for supporting us to bring this to life. Thanks to the team at Thin White Duke and Dav Eames for their mixology magic and creating some truly remarkable cocktails (I’m still not over the pickled pineapple garnish!). With most of us having worked in the UK drinks industry for a while, this sparked a great conversation about the lack of people of colour in the drinks industry, in our personal experience. Especially in hospitality, creative roles, and leading brands, and why that might be? It just so happens to be South Asian Heritage Month, I would love to connect with other South Asians working in the drinks industry to keep the conversation about representation alive. I spotted it in store yesterday and was so excited that I took this terrible picture! But it has been a long road for Jagir Mankodi 🥜 and Nirali Buch Mankodi. I first met the couple around 6 years ago as we were selling the brand's first snack to Ocado. How times have changed. The lesson? Good things take a long time, and good people always win More seriously, Is there a better time for investors to get behind good FMCG/ CPG brands? ➡ The sector is resilient. ➡ The Superfoodio example demonstrates there is, if you get it right, a rapid ability to scale. ➡ The food industry is uniquely supportive and helps continued innovation. ➡ Economic and social factors are driving consumer demand for better-for-you/ more sustainable products - this suits entrepreneurs ➡But, there's less quality innovation in the market, making it easier to spot winners. ➡Founders and investors are demanding more sustainable growth from companies. I'd like to ask who is leading the way on the biggest macro trend in the last decade - spoiler, I am talking about Gut-Health! 🌱 In July 2021 ‘gut health’ surpassed the Google search volumes of 'vegan diet' and 'plant-based diet’. In July 2024 searches for ‘gut health’ even edged ahead of  ‘weight loss diet’.   The rise of gut health in mainstream consciousness isn't just a passing phase; it's a clear sign of how we're evolving in our understanding of what it means to live healthily. 🌍 Just back from an awesome strategy workshop with our amazing team in Istanbul, Türkiye. Alongside the passion, skill and expertise that the team clearly have, it’s the resilience they show to grow our brands in what are some of the “darkest” conditions in terms of beverage alcohol marketing anywhere in the world that really stands out for me. And with that in mind, I got to thinking about what drinks marketers and advocacy professionals can learn from operating in restrictive conditions. *Understand your Environment* In open markets, we tend to look at the trade, be it off or on-premise purely as a distribution channel. In dark markets the trade plays a vital role in building brands via excellence at point of purchase execution and creating advocates of sales people and bartenders. **Power of Influence** Talking of advocacy, in open markets advocacy can focus on training and events. In dark markets, we have to be more thoughtful; our advocacy efforts focus on creating advocates and building relationships; understanding that retaining existing customers is as important as recruiting new ones and have the mindset that “loyalty” despite what the books tell us actually does exist. **Benefits of Focus** Without the benefits of broad reach media, in dark markets we need to focus our activations to get the best bang for our bucks. Again, the books tell us that focusing on niches is wrong; but focusing on the right niche, one that’s able to engage with like minded tribe members at scale and our 10% niche will tell our stories to the majority of our target audience. Basically by zeroing in on strategic priorities we can make a powerful impact in the market. The most popular Meal Deal items in Tesco are: Tesco Sausage Bacon & Egg Triple - 554Kcal McCoy's Ridge Cut Flame Grilled Steak Crisps 45g - 236 Kcal Coca-Cola Original Taste 500ml - 210 Kcal This comes in at a whopping 1000Kcal exactly! With the average recommended calorie intake for an adult being 2000, that's a very quick way to achieve that. This is why Meal Prepping is so important. Let's take my Tea last night/ Lunch today for an example. Throwback to my PizzaExpress days. Pollo Pesto Pasta - 597 Kcal (1/5 portion size of Picture below) Garlic Bread - 120 Kcal Water - 0 Kcal A grand total of 717 Kcal from a much more filling and nutritional meal. Active cooking time - 15 minutes, tops! Oven cooking time - 30 Minutes So I saved 300 Calories on my lunch as opposed to those that indulged in Britain's favourite Meal Deal today, and this is one of my higher caloric meals I make. Meal Prepping is also a huge money-saver. The Pollo Pesto below made 5 portions and cost me Approximately £11. That's £2.20 a meal. Let's compare that with Tesco's meal deal - Club card price £3.60 Regular Price £4 That's nearly twice the price for a less-filling, higher-calorie and (IMO) a much less-tasty meal. The UK market is witnessing a remarkable shift towards healthier eating, with zero sugar, low sugar, and low-calorie food and drink gaining immense popularity. As consumers become more health-conscious, brands are responding by reformulating products to meet this demand. This trend is not just about cutting calories; it’s about empowering people to make informed choices that align with their wellness goals. However, a potential new trend is emerging that could reshape this landscape: the use of appetite suppressants like Ozempic/Wegovy (Semaglutide). While these medications can help individuals manage their weight by reducing cravings, I think there should be a larger concern that they might lead to a shift in eating behaviors. As people begin to experience the effects of appetite suppression, we may see a tendency to indulge in high-calorie foods again, just in much smaller portions. This could result in a significant change in consumer behavior, moving away from stocking up on low-calorie foods to choosing more indulgent options while now aiming for moderation. Conversely, this trend may motivate consumers to pay greater attention to micronutrients and the overall quality of their diets. Instead of just replacing healthier food options, the popularity of appetite suppressants like Ozempic may actually highlight an increased demand for low-to-no sugar/calorie substitutes, reinforcing the trend and the underlying factors that have caused it. WHOPPING SALES Chief executive Simon Dodd said sales of Guinness were up a “whopping” 29% — higher than top-selling beers Estrella and Peroni. He added that cooler weather had encouraged customers to stick with Guinness and that popularity has grown across diverse age groups, including women. Customers are also mixing regular Guinness with its (excellent) non-alcoholic version 0.0. The popularity of Guinness was also cited by JD Wetherspoon last month, as its iconic founder and chair Tim Martin said in a trading update that the rocketing popularity of Guinness were pushing its annual profits towards the top of market expectations.
