I know, I know - why would I write if I’m not going to be paid for it (that’s what an outsider aka outside of comms industry would usually think). Because I’m just going to break it to you, we have lots, and I mean LOTS of introverts who are in the comms industry who are too afraid to be out there - and most of the time, they’re freaking good at what they do. And we’re missing out on their greatness (and I’m not even exaggerating). The whole no monies behind the write-ups will definitely be temporary, if we see you’re able to write for our clients too, we will definitely get your help and put your work out there. We’re also inviting social media managers who are passionate about the industry and to share your thoughts on anything social media, because why not? Over two-thirds (68%) of Black professionals in the PR industry have considered leaving their roles. While 14% of Black talent received a pay rise, only 6% were promoted. 📉 It's disheartening that many Black communications professionals are not surprised by the findings from the UK Black Comms Network 'One Step Forward, Two Steps Black' report. I also reached a point in my career where I questioned if communications was the right path for me, feeling overlooked and experiencing other unfortunate situations. Luckily I no longer feel this way anymore! It's a shame that so many Black PR professionals face similar, if not worse, challenges. These experiences underscore the urgent need for action to improve the career experiences of Black professionals in the PR and communications sector. This responsibility shouldn't fall solely on HR and diversity and inclusion teams. Organisations and agencies must hold themselves accountable and drive meaningful change.🙌🏾 Read the full report here:

Has your agency given pay rises in the past year? The latest Salary survey from The Works Search Ltd PR Executive Search Firm found that nearly a quarter of PR/comms agency professionals are unhappy or very unhappy with their current salary. Unsurprisingly pay increases have fallen, with 71% receiving an uplift compared to 77% the previous year. And most (35%) raises were up to 5%. With increased costs and squeezed budgets, generous rises are becoming difficult to offer. So what does that mean? From 'work from anywhere' to enhanced parental leave or fun/fulfilment funds. Agencies are taking a closer look at how they can enhance their employer brands and offer enticing perks and packages to attract, retain and satisfy talent.
