In a significant move for sustainable banking, Tandem Bank announces complete offsetting of its operational emissions through partnership with Climate Impact Partners. The bank will neutralise 3,013 tonnes of Scope 3 emissions via high-quality carbon credits, supporting initiatives like East African solar projects. This comes as CDP data reveals banking investments typically generate 700 times more emissions than operations. Tandem's green credentials are already impressive, having cut customer emissions by 74,000 tonnes CO2e by 2023 and achieving 100% renewable energy for Scope 2. Yesterday’s Dear CEO letter from the FCA provided a reminder, if any was needed that the deadline for implementation of #ConsumerDuty for closed products is now only a little over 10 weeks away. For many firms, implementation is well underway, but it’s worth considering some of the key points within the letter. In particular, firms need to understand the individual circumstances of each book in terms of data, terms, systems and customer base, which will impact on the outcome assessment.   The FCA have been consistent with their expectations for firms to be compliant with the Duty from the deadline, however, as with the implementation in 2023, this will not be a ‘one and done’ exercise and firms will need to define how they will remain compliant going forward. In the drive to get the prioritised actions completed by the deadline, firms also need to remember that embedding Consumer Duty in day-to-day activities and decision making is going to determine a firm or products relative success in meeting the new expectations. #ConsumerDuty #FCA #WealthManagement
