ARTICLE: Post-COVID-19 work changes have seen the rise of three- and four-day weekends for remote or hybrid workers looking to extend the leisure time they spend with their families. The “extra day” weekend trend is having a real impact across the hotel sector. Where a few years ago such travelers might have rented an Airbnb, the cooling relationship between short-term subleasing and regulators in many communities has driven business from the Airbnb operators and into the arms of select-service hoteliers.

Great morning at the Travolution.com Breakfast Briefing hearing about the future of travel and business success in response to a decline in post-pandemic travel. Led by Kate Harden-England with insights from panelists Andy Washington and Jonathan Bailey. Positive to see a confident outlook with travel continuing to grow as Asia continues to boom and long haul travel coming back. Sustainability is on the agenda, as we are increasingly starting to see more options incorporated into packages. There is still a need for technology to continue to enable and drive this further with one subsector driving this being rail, with bookings up over 1700% up. And of course, the underlying message is that technology is crucial in delivering on consumers travel wants and needs. A key part of what The BTA does on behalf of our Travel Management Company members and the wider business travel supply chain is lobbying and talking to government to ensure the voice of business travel is heard when policies and actions are being planned. Government interaction is not simply about meeting ministers and MP's, there is a lot of work done in submitting evidence to various committees and inquiries on behalf of the sector and our customers. The investment of both membership fees and data from our members is crucial to this work, as without this our voice would not be heard. Since 2019 the recognition of the BTA as the voice of business travel has risen significantly and we must maintain this profile by constantly, consistently and constructively taking every opportunity to have our say on behalf of the sector. The latest example of this behind the scenes work can be seen below as our evidence to the Select Committee's inquiry to scrutinise draft Rail Reform Bill has been published on the governments website. We will continue to take every opportunity to engage so that business travel and the business traveller issues and concerns are not overlooked. #businesstravel #yourbta #corporatetravel #travelmanagement

Visit Herts' latest Economic Impact Study for 2023, published this week, shows that Hertfordshire’s tourism industry has seen a significant rebound post-pandemic, underscoring the county’s appeal as a must-visit destination.   The study shows Hertfordshire’s tourism industry is nearing, and in some areas surpassing, pre-pandemic levels, with 1.9 million overnight stays in 2023. From the early days of working in business development Consultancy to leading several local initiatives as well as serving as a Climate Action Leader, my journey has been driven by a passion for protecting our planet and its cultural heritage.
