A good read for anyone with a bent for this sort of thing! The embedded sales pitch that these types of reports offer a great option for Risk Committees and Boards to deploy in response to the new Provision 29 in the UK Governance Code caught my eye. On the face of it an ISAE3402 type approach is something of a gold standard, but the problem is always going to be cost. For small firms (and I am thinking small/ regional building societies and the smaller challenger banks in particular) already facing rocketing audit costs (still inflated by PIE categorisation) a move towards such a standard will be a prohibitive cost. While the Building Societies Association's low pitch that compliance with PRA and FCA requirements is sufficient to deal with Provision 29 seems at the other extreme, I do wonder whether anyone is developing a 'middle ground' proposition (kind of 'ISAE3402- lite' methodology)?
