Jersey's New Consumer Credit Regime - Are You Getting Ready? In line with similar regimes in Guernsey and the UK the Government of Jersey will be introducing a new Consumer Credit Regime which is expected to come into force in 2026. Consumer credit business will become a regulated activity under the supervision of the Jersey Financial Services Commission. In our latest article (found on our website - https://bit.ly/3VHWUm8 ) we look at this new regime, following the consultation feedback published in May and noting that consultation on the secondary legislation and Codes of Practice continues in 2024. Do you or your business undertake any form of credit / lending? The new regime will include: - Secured lending (such as mortgages) - Unsecured credit agreements (such as car finance, pay day loans, local store cards), and - Unsecured hire agreements (such as a hire purchase agreement) If yes and you have not already done so, you will need to be review this new regime to consider and determine if the activity you undertake will be caught.
