How will this port strike impact you? Product shortages, rising prices, and delivery delays potentially running into the holiday season. Product shortages are most likely for perishable items like meat, fruits, vegetables, and dairy, which depend on timely port shipments. Rising prices will follow as supply chain disruptions reduce availability of goods, driving up costs for essentials like food and pharmaceuticals. Delivery delays will eventually hit non-perishable goods, like apparel and beauty products, causing slower restocking in stores. Finally, although some retailers may have prepared for the holiday season, even holiday shopping may still be affected by shortages or price increases if the strike persists.

Robots 🤖 delivering 📦 is becoming more and more real ... DPD UK will launch soon in Lincoln as part of nationwide roll out with 30 cities involved. DPD first introduced the Cartken robots in Milton Keynes in July 2022 and they have since travelled almost 500 miles and successfully performed over 2,500 trips delivering parcels to DPD customers. Tim Jones, Director of Marketing at DPD UK : "The trial in Milton Keynes has been a huge success for us. The robots have exceeded our expectations, and the feedback has been fantastic." Does this mean replacing drivers? Not for now, their delivery capacity is limited to residential areas within a mile of the depot while battery life will last for 12h. But it's a sign, together with Lockers revolution, that one day or another robots will deliver most of daily parcels.
