Had an incredible experience attending DevInfra-Days hosted by StackGen! 🎉 🎉 The event kicked off with Arshad Sayyad setting the stage with a high-energy introduction, diving into the critical problems StackGen is solving for the developer community. Their vision to simplify infrastructure management for developers really resonated. ⚡ Yusuf Kanchwala followed up with a deep dive into the technical aspects of StackGen's product. He showcased how their solution scans code and generates HashiCorp Terraform scripts in minutes—completely automating the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) process. The speed and accuracy were eye-opening! 💡 Then came the highlight of the event: a live demo by 👋Sangam B., where all the participants followed along. We generated Terraform code for a Python application and deployed it to a serverless architecture on the cloud in just a few minutes! ⏩ This hands-on experience showed how easy and fast the deployment process can be when using StackGen's tools. What really stood out to me was learning about the game-changing capabilities of appCD for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Lambda developers. If you're working with event-driven applications, appCD's Infrastructure from Code feature is a must-have. It automatically generates IaC files, ensuring your deployments are not just fast, but also secure and compliant from the get-go. 🚀 No more manual infrastructure provisioning, no more worrying about compliance and policy violations—appCD handles all of it. Developers can stay focused on what they do best: writing high-quality code, while the infrastructure is effortlessly managed in the background. 💻 If you're looking to streamline your development workflow and accelerate your time-to-market, check out stackgen.com. It's a game-changer for Developers and Devops who are working in the cloud! #DevInfraDays #DevOps #InfrastructureAsCode #Serverless #AWSLambda #Automation #CloudComputing #IaC #AppCD #FastDeployments #stackgen #DeveloperTools #TechInnovation #event

This means, when you join a company or work on a project, you'll be able to create their HLDs as well. In this cohort, we will not only solve design problems and learn concepts but we will also understand how to make tradeoffs and decide between the choices. This cohort will help you build your intuition on how to approach an HLD problem. For every topic, we will start with a simple system understanding without using any fancy technologies just like the way we used to do in our college and POC projects. From there, we will start understanding issues in terms of scalability, availability, consistency, reliability, etc., and will keep solving them one by one. The full structure of the cohort can be found on registration page below: https://lnkd.in/g-VVEmSU

India's Crypto Bill has been a topic of intense debate and speculation, drawing attention from investors, policymakers, and tech enthusiasts alike. The bill, aimed at regulating cryptocurrency activities within the country, reflects the government's cautious yet pragmatic approach to an industry that has grown exponentially in recent years. At its core, the bill seeks to establish a legal framework for digital assets while balancing innovation with security. It is designed to prevent illicit activities, such as money laundering and fraud, that have been associated with the unregulated nature of cryptocurrencies. However, it also recognizes the potential of blockchain technology and digital currencies in driving financial inclusion and technological advancement. One of the key highlights is the government's intention to launch its own Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). This digital rupee could redefine India’s financial ecosystem, making transactions faster, more secure, and more efficient. But the bill also proposes strict measures, including heavy penalties, for those who mine, hold, or trade cryptocurrencies without proper authorization. This has raised concerns about the future of private cryptocurrencies in India, with many fearing that it could stifle innovation and drive crypto businesses out of the country. As India marks 78 years of independence, the discussion around the Crypto Bill becomes even more relevant. It’s a reminder that as we celebrate our nation's freedom, we must also look forward to shaping the future of financial independence in the digital age. Balancing regulation and innovation in the crypto space will be key to ensuring that India remains a leader in the global tech landscape. How India navigates this complex terrain could set a precedent for other nations grappling with the rise of digital currencies. #cryptocurrency #cryptobill #digitalcurrency #blockchaintechnology #financialregulation #centralbankdigitalcurrency #indiafinance #techinnovation #digitalassets #cryptoindia

Top learnings from my discussion with Kishore Gopalakrishna - Language choice for system development should balance team expertise, hiring potential, and ecosystem maturity. A well-implemented system in a familiar language often outperforms a poorly implemented one in a "faster" language. - Distributed systems are complex - they can fail in unexpected ways, making your own computer useless. This challenge is often underestimated. Understand the failure modes. - When building new systems, design for the long-term (10 years) but plan for the near-term (2-3 years). Implement for current needs while keeping the architecture flexible for future growth. Design for long term, plan for short-medium term. - Testing distributed systems requires going beyond known test cases. Develop test frameworks that generate new scenarios automatically to uncover unforeseen issues. - Cost optimization in data systems often involves trade-offs. Kafka, for example, sacrificed transactionality and exact-once delivery for higher throughput and lower cost per log. Its all about the Trade-offs. You get some, you lose some. - When approaching problems, start with first principles. Understand why something is expensive or inefficient before trying to optimize it. Don't jump on a solution. Understand the real problem first. - Open-source success relies heavily on community building. Foster respectful communication, clear processes for resolving conflicts, and a culture of helpfulness to grow a strong contributor base. There are many communities, but only the ones with good culture thrive. - Real-time analytics can significantly boost user engagement. Even small reductions in data latency can lead to measurable improvements in user experience and product value. - When considering real-time analytics, focus on how it can improve your users' lives rather than just technical capabilities. Many support issues can be eliminated by giving users direct access to real-time data. Product isn't useful if it making users' lives better. - Innovation in data products often comes from changing perspective - instead of asking "Do we need this?", ask "How can this improve our users' experience?" This shift can uncover valuable use cases for real-time analytics. Asking the right questions will help you reach the right answers. - When building data products, consider the long-term evolution of technology. Design choices should anticipate future developments, such as improvements in network speed or storage capabilities. Keep your design extensible. - As users become more data-savvy, there's increasing demand for self-serve analytics tools. Empowering users with direct access to data can reduce support overhead and enable more informed decision-making. Empower users to do more with data quickly. ———————————————————————— In case you haven't watched the episode yet, you can watch it here: youtu.be/SmLlJmU9Daw Also subscribe if you like such discussions.

The filtering system, as it exists today at many MAANG companies, has been thoroughly gamed. As leaders, its extremely important to be cognizant of this parallel ecosystem/factory dishing out this pipeline of engineers ready to ace these templatised "interviews". As difficult as it is, We should constantly evolve ourselves and our panelists to stay ahead of the curve to really filter out the fluff from real talent. Also it becomes extremely important to do a thorough background check on prior work and feedback.

Intuit's recent decision to lay off developers, citing the need for more advanced AI skills, comes off as a disingenuous manoeuvre that sidesteps the truth. It's hard to buy into the narrative that these layoffs are truly about acquiring employees with better AI proficiency. In reality, it seems like a convenient cover for a cost-cutting strategy that involves offshoring jobs to cheaper markets. Think about it: the idea that current developers lack sufficient experience with AI tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, or other generative technologies is misleading. These tools have been part of the industry landscape for the past few years, and developers everywhere have been getting up to speed with them. The notion that there's a significant skill gap among developers when it comes to these tools is simply not accurate. The tools themselves, while helpful in certain contexts, are far from the magic solutions they are often hyped up to be. At best, they serve as fancy autocompletes—useful for streamlining some tasks but incapable of replacing the nuanced, expert work required for sophisticated software development. The real issue here is that Intuit's move undermines the trust and morale of its employees. Firing seasoned developers under the pretext of needing more AI-savvy replacements is not just misleading, it's a slap in the face to those who have dedicated their skills and efforts to the company. It creates an atmosphere of insecurity and distrust, where employees are left wondering if their hard work and loyalty mean anything in the face of corporate cost-cutting. Moreover, this strategy reflects a short-sighted understanding of what AI can achieve. While AI tools can certainly assist with certain aspects of development, they are not yet sophisticated enough to replace human expertise in creating complex, production-ready software. Believing otherwise is a risky gamble that could compromise the quality and innovation of Intuit's products in the long run. If the true intention behind these layoffs is to offshore jobs to cheaper markets, then Intuit should be honest about it. Hiding behind the AI narrative is dishonest and disrespectful to the employees who are being let go. Offshoring comes with its challenges, such as communication barriers and potential declines in work quality, and it is not the silver bullet it might appear to be. In an era where ethical business practices and corporate social responsibility are increasingly valued, such a strategy can erode customer trust and loyalty. #intuit #layoff #jobs https://lnkd.in/dv3qD9kS

Recently attended droidcon with Yash Khandelwal and would've definitely regretted not witnessing it in person. → Gained some concrete validation from small and big teams alike on how deep the Android's dev productivity challenges are → It's always exciting to see how big the #Android ecosystem has come to be, with not just phones but also #wearables, #smartglasses, #securitysystems, and #AI-enabled multimodal handhelds, and how those same productivity and collaborative challenges propagate largely here → A smart platform with relevant tooling is a great enabler for faster delivery, which we here at Dashwave are striving to bring forth PS: I am in SF for the next few weeks, HMU to say hi, catch up or chat on, but not limited to, dev tools, Android engineering, distributed systems and webassembly.

How India’s digital public infrastructure is enabling the emergence of state-backed ‘alt big tech’ "India Stack" Much of what was described as digital public infrastructure in this context flowed from India’s experiences with projects like Aadhaar for digital identification, the Unified Payments Interface for digital payments, and more recently, the account aggregator framework for data management in the financial sector. A host of such interventions built around the idea of standardisation of “open” application programming interfaces, or APIs, are collectively described as the “India Stack”. #digitalindia #upi #DPI #bigtech https://lnkd.in/g7tqyjSe

ok time for new vocabulary. my buddy Vinod Sankar used the term hallucinations in the context of some LLM discussions we were having in a previous post. I had never heard of the word used in the context of LLMs(yes i am not upto date on terminology) so i asked my fav LLM what it meant. Here is the response "In the context of large language models (LLMs) like GPT, hallucinations refer to instances when the model generates text or information that appears plausible but is factually incorrect, misleading, or entirely fabricated. These "hallucinations" occur due to the nature of LLMs, which predict text based on patterns learned from massive datasets rather than understanding facts or accessing a database in real-time." Its brilliant usage and apt terminology. AI models are slowly getting a human face.
