Trying to secure renewals when clients are wanting a reduction in costs and yet they're wanting more for their money. So as an agency margins are squeezed and therefore standards could be compromised. They know they need more people but the numbers don't add up. And yet very few agencies have a sales strategy or anyone responsible for new business. It baffles me every time. No business in any industry would survive without a sales strategy. Maybe Brighton SEO is not for me 🤔. Something I have been pondering since attending in 2016 and not being blown away by anything covered at that event ... Monitored every year (twice a year recently) topics/decks but nothing ever blows me away. I still feel impactful, usable technical SEO is very under represented there. Over the years I have had friends, colleagues and even ex clients speak at the event. Very clever, experienced SEOs and marketers but the majority of decks speakers share every year always leave me scratching my head. I am not having a go at the speakers or (event bashing) who are usually experienced client side or agency practitioners. Having spoken at events previously I am fully aware of the personal work (plus speaking in public is no easy feat) that goes into the decks and the author leading you through their work is often more inspiring than that of a flat document. This post is not about people, it's about topics. However, I have viewed decks from some absolute legends of the game over the past 12 years that need no speaker track, they are clear and easy to understand. Actionable insights. I just fail to see the utility and value innovation in most (not all) of the decks that I come across. Many slides just seem to tell a "nice story" without any context, impact scoring or commercial results. Upward trends using GSC data or data records all moving up... I spend most of my life looking at performance data without the insight it's meaningless to the audience. How by doing this specific action you are teaching the audience did this get you to reach your target growth quicker? The only perceived value I see from the event is catching up with old friends/clients/colleagues, networking and meeting passiononate SEO community members. I am aware the people who attend enjoy the talks and see the value. Like I said at the start maybe Brighton SEO at a topic level is not targeted towards me and maybe I need to make peace with that. Not everything can be for everyone.

Some end-of-the-week results showcase - 📉 Cost Per Conversion reduced by 99.1% 📈 Conversion Rate increased by 12,512% 📈Conversions increased by 31,950% 📈New Contacts increased in CRM by 97.1% 📈MQLs increased by 35.7% Key Insights 💡 1️⃣ Before we took over the account, ad money was being spent but without proper conversion tracking. Can't emphasize enough how important that is. 2️⃣ A focus on middle and lower-funnel conversions, considering people who click on Book a Demo as a conversion, Meeting Bookings, and Form Fill ups as conversions. This helped the Ads algorithm collect data and also push for lower funnel conversions simultaneously. 3️⃣ Previously the account was running Dynamic search ads which didn't make much business sense and CPA was astronomical. Old SEO colleagues / connections... Can anyone recommend a really amazing technical/BAU link acquisition agency? Sounds a little old school, I know, but being in the theatre-industry means not being short for amazing content-led ideas and creatives for when we get cracking. What we ARE in short-supply of is for a creative ground-up "someone" to support with what we don't have time for at the moment - everything from link reconfigs where production info has changed and there is a genuine benefit for the customer to replacing it, to creative approaches to securing placements where we should already be being seen. May be seen as more grey-hat these days but still fundamentally critical to great SEO. Again - we aren't looking for someone who can run PR-led creative content link building - just someone/an agency that works closely on some of the older building blocks that many contemporary creative agencies skip over in favour of the fun! Bonus points if you/the agency were around in 2012 time and know the importance of why it's still key to ensure our technical bed of links and placements are maintained and grown, wider than the PR-led one offs and reactive/proactive PR approach (which I fully am and standby also, but will be covered in a new content and amplification strategy).
