IT leaders are as wary as they are excited by the promise of AI. It heralds uncertainty in its challenges as well as its benefits – and uncertainty doesn’t encourage investment. For those vendors, channel providers and end user buyers who successfully navigate this, there are substantial business-wide gains to be had. Putting AI into the hands of entire workforces promises scalable benefits as part of our regular refresh cycles. This is the low-hanging fruit of this new AI era. Almost three-quarters of respondents agree that, “The core value and payback in AI PCs will be over the next few years, rather than at launch.” In other words, the return will be within the next refresh cycle. This means IT leaders, and channel partners alike, must get on top of their AI PC strategies today, or risk missing out on the business and commercial benefits of what will surely be one of the fastest growing markets in the enterprise hardware space." The Balance Between Coaching and Managing a sales team: • In SMEs, a Head of Sales doesn’t need to be a specialist in every area but must be able to foster team growth by empowering individuals to take on more responsibility. The key is to nurture a culture where team members feel confident in thinking for themselves, coming up with solutions for both clients and the company, and ultimately standing on their own feet. The manager's role is not to micro-manage but to be a trusted sounding board when needed, offering guidance and feedback while allowing the team the space to make decisions. • Coaching in this context means developing your team’s skills, building their confidence, and motivating them to strive for personal and professional growth. It involves providing them with the tools and training they need to be independent while also encouraging a problem-solving mindset that benefits both clients and the company. I’ve found MEDDIC and SPIN methodologies to be excellent to enhance pipeline qualification and forecasting accuracy.  • On the other hand, managing involves ensuring accountability—making sure the team remains aligned with business objectives, consistently hitting sales targets, and meeting performance expectations. KPI’s should be individually tailored and achievable with an effort. A strong Head of Sales knows when to step in and offer direction, and when to step back and let the team take charge, all while maintaining a culture of trust and clear communication. If you don’t trust your people, why have them in the team at all? What do you think is the right balance between coaching and managing your sales team?
