ADCs are designed to deliver a potent chemotherapy drug directly to cancer cells by attaching it to an antibody that recognizes a specific protein in the cancer cells. This allows for more targeted treatment, potentially reducing side effects compared to traditional chemotherapy. The novel class of ADCs being developed by Myricx Bio, could potentially provide even more targeted and effective treatments. That's value. When treating cancer, it's all hands on deck. As an #endometriosis patient myself, am rooting for Hera Biotech to be successful. This nightmare of a disease that destroyed my ovaries and stole my #fertility by my 30s, *must* have better #diagnosis. Understandably, doctors and insurance are not keen to send every woman with “bad periods” for a diagnostic #surgery. Yet, we discount debilitating symptoms as “just a bad period.” Neither should women lose most ovarian function from a disease that can affect almost every organ, growing unchecked. At least 1 in 10 women have endometriosis (likely a vast undercount) and it can take 10+ years to diagnose. Each month, the disease progresses. The status quo is unacceptable. We really need to be testing at a #pediatric age. Looking back, my symptoms started as early as age 14. I was not diagnosed until age 37, by which time the disease was infiltrating multiple pelvic organs. That is nearly a quarter century of disease eating away at my insides, unchecked. When people tell me being a #startup founder is hard, especially as a woman. It is not harder than what I have already done in my life and career. I “should have” failed and not made it this far, let alone have outpaced and outcompeted those with perfect health. Even so, looking back, this added so much unnecessary struggle to my work and to my personal life. It was only from a #neurologist I met off of LinkedIn Mark Gudesblatt, that I found out about the connection between endometriosis and #migraine. Prior to the loss of 1 and 1/2 of my ovaries, thus loss of estrogen, I used to get debilitating migraines that even necessitated medical leave. (When healthy young men claim they are “blocked” in career?… try accomplishing anything when you live with an undiagnosed disease that eats away at your organs every month then tell me how “unfair” life is to you. I would like to see these frustrated young folks develop empathy for others’ barriers and to convert anger into problem-solving instead.) In a better world, I would not need to go into early #menopause and lose fertility simply to be able to function reliably in what could have been my prime fertile years as a woman. While many today celebrate the tearing down of #healthcare & #science promised in these next several years, that defunding of already under-researched conditions will not help women nor families. Issues that affect a woman’s ability to work in a career or at home, have a family, have basic quality of life will remain unsolved without pro-science #funding. For every public program that gets destroyed or defunded, you private sector investors had better step up. Be a problem solver.

Such an exciting clinical milestone for Tryptamine Therapeutics (Tryp Therapeutics) with the company releasing clinically significant data from its second Phase 2a clinical trial utilising TRP-8802 (oral-psilocybin), this time, in Fibromyalgia Syndrome. For the pharmaceutical industry, from "New Chemical Entity" (NCE) status to completion of Phase 2a studies can take anywhere between 6 - 10 years and cost between US$200M - US$1B. Canada-UK Biomanufacturing of Biologics and Advanced Therapies Round 2 This initiative is a collaborative funding opportunity between the UK and Canada, aimed at advancing the biomanufacturing of biologics and advanced therapies. The total funding available is up to £3 million from Innovate UK and up to CA$6 million from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). Eligibility Open to collaborations between UK and Canadian organizations. UK participants must be businesses of any size, and collaborations must include at least one Canadian SME as a separate entity. Projects should focus on biomanufacturing innovations, including enabling technologies for biologics, delivery systems for proteins and nucleic acids, and novel biological products. Funding Details UK micro or small businesses can receive up to 70% funding, medium-sized businesses up to 60%, and large businesses up to 50% for eligible project costs. Canadian SMEs may receive up to 50% reimbursement of eligible costs up to CA$1 million. This funding will be used to accelerate the development of their novel podocyte-targeting AAV #GeneTherapy platform, which has the potential to transform the lives of the 840 million people globally with kidney diseases.
