I'm pleased to say that according to Garage Industry Trends last week the future demand increased for the independent automotive industry and is expected to continue to increase for the next 6 weeks or so. April 2024 saw the highest average invoice value so far in all of the data collected, with an average of £305. So far in 2024 the average invoice values by fuel type are as follows. Diesel £339 Hybrid £247 Petrol £244 EV £234 So far in 2024 EV makes up 1.05% of invoices, and Hybrid makes up 2.26% of invoices. For vehicles registered since 2022, this increased to EV 7.75% and Hybrid 11.71% Labour rate continues to remain pretty level, increasing only by 70p since January 24, currently at £74.73 Have a great week 😊

UK car market dynamics 🚗 With September taking shape it will be interesting to see the 3 month trend develop.📊 The June to August period showed a declining retail market offset by fleet and motability growth. 📉 BEV sales in both retail and fleet are in decline. 📉 The market looks to be softening. Retail is down year on year and the BEV market despite intense stimulation is not responding as we would all hope. ‼️ Whilst the headlines have celebrated that the BEV share is growing this is due to a declining market (actual EV volume is static)🚨 As always there will be winners and losers. 👍👎 The losers will blame the external factors for their lack of success whilst the winners will adjust and find a way to succeed. #interventionrequired #ifitstobeitsuptome

Listen up!! Its clear from talking to business leaders that New vehicle sales have been tough this year. So know you are not on your own if you are falling short against the internal budget you have been set by Head Office. Remember your 2024 budget was a best guess on what opportunities MIGHT be possible, based on the previous year/ years performance, stock availability, and manufacturer ambitions. Of course all manufacturers want their share of the pie, but they do not know how big the pie is going to be, and 11 people cannot each have 10% of it. If you sometimes feel like your performance is lacking, it might be helpful to listen to the Motortrade Radio Podcast each Saturday morning to understand what is going on in the market place and how your performance sits within the bigger picture. ( because worryingly, some business leaders expect a bigger slice of a pie that just isn’t there!)

Be interested to hear from other converters, lease co's, LCV dealer network etc on the EV numbers they're seeing currently? Had a look through our system this morning... out of the multiple hundreds of completed vehicles we have on site awaiting collection only 2.75% of them are EV, and out of the multiple hundreds of vehicles that are currently in production in the factory, 0.00% of them are EV...! Is this just a random blip in the numbers due to various timings this end or is this a trend that others are seeing too? Does 2035 have anything to do with it? Will we see a change in figures after 4th July? 🤔

******** HELP ******** To all my amazing automotive contacts. One of the regular requirements of an automotive event organiser is to source competitor vehicles for comparison purposes. This has never been an issue, however with recent supply issues and the increased requirement for Electric Vehicles which are not prevalent in abundance on hire fleets, it’s becoming more of a challenge. Therefore at Motiv8 we want to create a database that will help us and other event agencies source these vehicles when required for short term hire. So if you or anyone you know can assist in providing vehicle loan, hire, rental or very short term lease particularly of EV’s please get in touch. We have a particular requirement for the procurement of the following for a June event.
