A question for all apprentice training providers. What current planning are you undertaking to assess the impact that a Labour Government's change from the Apprenticeship Levy to a broader Skills Levy will have on your business? Are you identifying how the funding of alternative, often shorter qualifications, will affect your apprenticeship offer? Are you mapping across those other qualifications? Are you looking at different alternative qualifications that you might be able to deliver in your specialist sectors? If this plan comes to fruition, it could mean the death of some of apprenticeship standards, as employers flock to an alternative. This might be especially so for standards that contain a mandatory qualification. No-one knows if or when all of this might happen, but it is surely worth considering the strategic impact on your business if it did.

In the NHS and in many health systems around the world, demand for health services has begun to outstrip health systems’ capacity to provide care. And yet we still see large numbers of acute beds being occupied by patients who are medically fit and could be discharged to their homes or residential and nursing care homes. So what’s stopping this happening? This is the question that myself and my global KPMG colleagues looked at in some detail a few months ago – if it was an easy thing to fix, it would have been fixed already! We set out to think differently about how to help health systems deliver better value for the communities and the patients they serve. We used the KPMG Connected Enterprise for Healthcare approach to redesign care pathways and to leverage digital solutions and new ways of working, such as improving efficiency of critical transitions in care pathways. Really love this article… without exception any ‘Change’ that I have experienced which ignores the importance of Change Managers bringing people on the project journey did not deliver the benefits or returns that were hoped and expected…. And ultimately failed. If you can’t put yourself in the shoes of those you are hoping to change, and help them to change too…. It just won’t happen! Now is the time so do this!!! An amazing post below and: Yes, we all need to collectively challenge the status quo, now is the best time more than ever that our harmonised voices will make an impact. Keep speaking up! Write to your local parliamentary representative, either in government or in opposition- the culture of cross floor debate is improving, and supportive scrutiny is becoming the new method of opposition.

I love to get out and meet new people see new ideas, but in the NHS it isnt so easy to do that as we are very siloed. I think networking is important, meeting new people and creating new ideas, fostering connections among professionals is crucial. I see so many events going on which are nice to go to, in reality people don’t have capacity to attend to many and with that less networking opportunities. I have started to attend local business networks which are interesting but rarely have relevant connections. What I have seen is that they work for business, which got me thinking about starting a North East Networking event that can meet on a quarterly basis, starting online and then if successful having face to face meetings with different organisations hosting each time.   I am looking at the formation of a networking and collaboration group specifically for NHS professionals in the North East. This group aims to unite a diverse range of healthcare workers, creating a community that promotes the sharing of knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions to common challenges.   Purpose: The main objective of this group is to establish a dynamic platform where NHS professionals can connect and collaborate. By bringing together our collective expertise and experiences, we hope to drive improvements in patient care, operational efficiency, and professional growth. This group will focus on: 1 - Knowledge Exchange: Sharing insights, research findings, and clinical experiences to enhance professional knowledge and improve patient outcomes. 2 - Collaborative Projects: Encouraging interdisciplinary cooperation on projects that tackle shared challenges and explore innovative solutions. 3 - Professional Development: Providing opportunities for continuous learning through workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs. 4 - Networking Opportunities: Building a robust professional network to support career development and foster a sense of community among NHS staff.
