You're guiding a client through a leadership role transition. How can you help them conquer stress?
I would ask the Client what is it about the transition that is stressful ? I would remind them that they are not their thoughts and that the more they identify with the stress or try to push it away, the more it will intensify. I would then try and ascertain what 'system' they currently use to create success. Ask them how this system as served them to date ? I would then ask what are the costs of the current system ? Following this I would invite the Client to discuss creating a new system for success. Reminding them they are a whole complete and conscious being and it is the system causing the stress - not them. I would also remind them that conquering stress is futile, and the strength lies in being with the stress.

How can you build a sense of ownership among your team?
Ownership is another word for accountability. I believe accountability is a must for any thriving company culture. Like all cultural traits you desire your team to foster they must come from the top of the organisation, so leaders must do something that is counter-intuitive and admit to mistakes of their own. It also helps to make it part of the fabric of the business - when holding status meetings encourage people to share their mistakes and how they overcame them. Show empathy and reward people for asking for help. A culture that promotes fixing mistakes quickly will create teams that have ownership.

How can you evaluate food business profitability?
When early stage investing Gross Margin is one of the key levers I would expect to improve over time. The best founders know these numbers off the top of their heads and understand the impact even a small change can make to the business. If you are investing for a return in 7/10 years you would want to see a journey from where your COGS currently sit to where they are going to be in 3/5 years time. If there is no potential movement from the Gross Margin on year 1 to year 3 of your investment that would be a red flag to me e.g. a business I invested in last year knew the key milestones they needed to hit to achieve a better margin.
