More persons have been getting job offers that come with work Tools. This particular student did not get just a laptop but double screen desktop and all the tools she needed to start working, down to mouse😅 Her own job was so easy to get. No stress and everything was on LinkedIn. Like I keep saying, if you are a job seeker and not taking LinkedIn seriously, you are wrong. Just last 2 week one of Students who was casually exploring LinkedIn applied for a technical support role and as we speak, he's currently undertaking his onboarding training. His pay is 32 d0llars per hour. Plenty money in this economy. Funnily enough, his previous insurers job was paying less than 2ook. I can't even begin to share all the opportunities our students are getting on LinkedIn. My own experience is different because, I can say that I have created a path for myself already and a lot of people already know how to engage or collaborate with me. Instead of you waiting and complaining about not having a laptop, start with what you have and you might be lucky to get a job that comes with work perks. Many students are also being gifted laptops by their partners or family lately. The truth is, it's easier to get help when you have already started doing something than when you are not doing anything, but make excuses and complain. Reg1stration is currently ongoing for our next session which happened to be the last for this year and joining Digital Witch might be one the best things to happen to you and yours lately. The New Nigerian Curriculum Infusion. It’s no longer news that the federal government this week announced introduction of 15 new skills which should be compulsory to be added to the Nigerian Curriculum from Basic 1 – JSS3 beginning 2025 Session : The 15 Skill courses are : 1. Plumbing 2. Tiling and Floor Works 3. POP Installation 4. Event Decoration and Management 5. Bakery and Confectioneries 6. Hairstyling 7. Makeup 8. Interior Design 9. GSM Repairs 10. Satellite/TV Antenna Installation 11. CCTV, Intercom Installation, and Maintenance 12. Solar Installation and Maintenance 13. Garment Making 14. Agriculture and Processing (including crop production, beekeeping, horticulture, sheep and goat farming, poultry, and rabbit farming) 15. Basic Digital Literacy (IT and Robotics) A lot is being said regarding the statement and more criticism than support I have observed. So this is my perspective. 💭 I want to begin by first commending the fact that though seems late but at last the Nigerian government has come to terms with the fact that the current curriculum cannot prepare Nigerians for current and future realities. 💭 While the government is advocating early skills acquisition, almost all the skills are more vocational / technical which may not be a bad idea. 💭 But here is a question, if we are to prepare the Nigerian child for the future of work will these skills help the Nigerian child compete globally in the current tech driven world? 💭 Only one tech skill stated as ‘Basic Digital Literacy’ I hope it won’t be outdated theoretical note copying sessions about technology with no genuine creative practical sessions. I haven't worked in almost 2 years. Why? Because that now (almost) cringe-worthy adage is true: If you do what you love, you'll never work another day in your life. Now, that doesn't mean my days are filled with rainbows and butterflies and devoid of frustrations, setbacks, or challenges. One of the goals that I set for myself at the beginning of this year was to sharpen my Product Management skills.Last month, I applied for the UX Foundry Product Management Mentorship Programme, and I was accepted.The introductory session for the programme was held last week Saturday, and Adeola Richards facilitated the session.She shared on 'who a Product Manager is NOT' and 'who a Product Manager IS'.One profound thing I learnt during the session was that Product Managers should be able to say NO to a suggestion given by the owner of the product or any member of the product team when the suggestion doesn't align with the goal of the product, no matter how beautiful it may be.I'm definitely looking forward to learning more in subsequent sessions. # productmanagement #Uxfoundary

My journey in this field, spanning over the years, has come with both its challenges and rewards. I started at a time when virtual assistance was still unfamiliar to many Ghanaians, but through persistence and a willingness to learn, I built a thriving career. One key challenge I faced was attracting clients, especially those based in Ghana, where the concept of hiring a virtual assistant wasn’t widespread. But as more Ghanaian companies realized the benefits, it became clear that there were numerous local opportunities, not just internationally. One thing I’ve learned is that you don’t have to wait for big foreign companies to hire you. You can equally build a fulfilling and successful career working with Ghana-based businesses. There’s a lot of potential here, and as Ghana adopts this trend, the opportunities continue to grow. When I finally got my first foreign client from Kenya, it marked a significant turning point in my journey. This client not only trusted my services but also kept recommending me to her friends. It reinforced the idea that building a reputation for quality work can open doors beyond your immediate market. For those just starting with no experience, it's crucial to set reasonable pricing. This is especially important if the company you’re approaching doesn’t already have high quotes in mind, like many foreign companies do. When foreign clients quote rates in dollars, it might seem like a lot, but remember that being paid $1,000 by a U.S. company is relatively minor for them. In contrast, you can't charge a local business owner the equivalent amount in cedis due to the currency variation. Tailoring your pricing to be more affordable for local clients can help you build a solid client base while still valuing your work. When you start out, don’t be afraid to volunteer your services or offer reduced rates. It’s important to get that first bit of experience under your belt and build a portfolio. Also, if both you and your client are based in Ghana, consider pricing in local currency to make your services more accessible and reasonable for local clients. This approach helps you stay competitive in the local market while still growing your career.
