This isn’t just another squat variation. By elevating the heel of your front foot, you’re dialing up the focus on your quads and pushing your range of motion to the max! In response to a resounding call from the industry, EMD UK, the official national governing body (NGB) for group exercise, has transformed the sector’s workforce strategy for group exercise to introduce a more accessible framework that bridges career opportunities for thousands of group exercise instructors, giving instructors professional recognition that closes skills gaps for employers. “Extensive consultation with instructors, employers, training providers and awarding bodies reveals a clear disconnect between employers’ needs and the availability of professionally recognised instructors” says Gill Cummings-Bell, CEO, EMD UK. The strategy overhaul incorporates professional recognition against a scope of practice and a reimagined Continuous Professional Development (CPD) framework based on a Scope of Practice model. Professional recognition for a group exercise scope of practice can only be gained through the NGB. Sue Wilkie, Head of Workforce Partnerships and Governance, EMD UK, explains: “As our sector seeks to strengthen ties with health providers and play a key role in driving healthier communities, this move will help established healthcare industries draw parallels with our fitness professionals, instilling confidence in professional competencies and streamlining referral processes, creating growth opportunities for both instructors and operators.” Additionally, EMD UK has collaborated with Awarding Organisations, Active IQ and YMCA Awards to introduce the 'Bridge' certification. Can we all just agree that Olympic lifts (and variations of), are great for developing power, but whether or not an athlete does them is dependent on individual factors, specific to the athlete and S&C coach? Whilst noting that there are also lots of other great ways to develop power. Lots of successful athletes have done Olympic lifts and lots of successful athletes haven’t. #strengthandconditioning #strengthandconditioningcoach

#RBAformations In formations with three central defenders, the hybrid role of the central centre-back (often referred to as the "sweeper" or "libero") is crucial. This player has a more dynamic role compared to the other two central defenders. In defence, this role includes covering for the other centre-backs, and marking the opponent's striker. Players in this position also organise the defensive line, making sure the back three move in unison. In many modern systems, the central centre-back is also responsible for initiating attacks. They often step out of the defensive line, carrying the ball forward into midfield, and acting like a deep-lying playmaker.
