Between 2007 and 2022, only two drugs developed specifically for childhood cancers were approved by the European Medicines Agency - obviously, that is no where near good enough. So, Cancer Research Horizons and LifeArc have launched C-Further, a new international consortium set up to develop new, tailored and well-tolerated drugs for #ChildhoodCancer. To make this work we need to face the market failures surrounding the development of cancer drugs for children and young people head on. Revolutionizing Asthma and COPD Treatment Researchers at King's College London* have introduced the first new treatment for asthma and COPD flares in 50 years, using a monoclonal antibody. Published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine** they have found that benralizamab (already used to treat severe asthma) as an injection can target eosinophils responsible for the exacerbations and is more effective when used at the point of exacerbation, compared to standard steroid treatment. We, the team at CellCentric, are pioneering a new approach to treat multiple myeloma, with an oral p300/CBP inhibitor drug, inobrodib. Huge progress has been made in treating the disease, particularly with recent antibody-based therapies (BCMA targeting agents, TCEs). But 75% of people diagnosed still die of the condition. Beyond and alongside existing approaches, there is a need for oral agents with novel modes of action. Community based delivery also helps address health inequities, meeting the needs of people who are not suitable or able to access more complex treatments in specialist centres. New financing maintains full momentum to registration studies. RA Capital Management and Pfizer Ventures now join Morningside as shareholders.
