How do you influence someone when they are really convinced of their position? Have a listen to this podcast, which shares some key tips on how we need to re-think our strategies and tactics to influence people by focusing less on logic and more on the psychology of the person's position. Some key takeaways for me included: 💡 Our brains equate choice with control. If we don’t feel that we’ve got a choice in the process of change, we will dig our heels in. 💡 A position may be entrenched due to a person's loss aversion on how much energy they put into their position. Help others lessen loss and maintain dignity by preserving titles, language, and symbols in things that are new. 💡Instead of trying making an argument, ask a question that allows the other person to listen to themselves.
