Jacobs enquiry this week came from a healthcare agency that has traded for four years. 🩺 They work predominantly with Local Authorities, providing care workers that work in domiciliary settings supporting individuals in their homes. 👩‍⚕️ They have used invoice finance for the past few uses, with a couple of different providers. However, things are not currently working too well with their current funder, so they are looking for an option that can be more flexible with their funding. 📈 The domiciliary sector can be tricky for some invoice finance providers as sign-off/proof of work can be very limited in some instances, and processes can vary massively between council to council, as can the payment terms! 📆 We have introduced the business to two lenders who very much specialise in funding the healthcare sector and have seen it all. Our lighting team’s expertise has helped overturn objections and secure planning permission for a new design at a healthcare waste incineration unit in Worcestershire.   On behalf of a private client, we were commissioned to undertake an External Lighting Impact Assessment to address multiple consultee comments on an existing design. The industrial site, on the edge of Hanley Castle village and within the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, required security lighting and CCTV, including a specification to incorporate PIR sensors.   One of the drawbacks of these sensors is that they are either on full or not, which means potential harmful light sources for local residents and ecology, and a lack of adherence to international dark sky standards. Using 3D modelling, we designed a bespoke system whereby lights will be fitted with PIR sensors, but half will be switched off between 11pm – 7am and the other half will be dimly lit, only rising to 100% brightness when the sensor is tripped.   “To achieve this innovative solution we worked with the manufacturer, Thorn Lighting, to confirm dimmable versions were able to be produced,” explains our senior environmental consultant, Nathan Allen. “This avoids the nuisance of lights switching on and off throughout the night when triggered by wildlife but is enough of a deterrent to provide the necessary security levels.   “At committee, our revised lighting layout was approved with no objections from consultees.”   #lightingdesign #lightingimpactassessment #lightinglayout #planningpermission #expertise #darkskystandards #visualisation #3Dmodelling #lightingassessment #Malvern #Worcestershire

✨ Exciting milestone at our Leeds Bradford Airport project ✨ Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has officially marked the start of construction work on its new terminal regeneration with a ground breaking ceremony. The privately funded £100m development, known as LBA:REGEN, will transform LBA’s existing terminal building into a modern, efficient and sustainable facility, enhancing passenger experience and supporting the region’s economic growth. Farrans Construction is delivering Phase 1 of the project. LBA:REGEN will deliver a 9,500 sq. mt., three-storey extension to the existing terminal, alongside a significant refurbishment of the current facilities. Passengers will benefit from the creation of additional aircraft stands, more seating, faster security, new shops and eateries, a larger baggage reclaim area and immigration hall, and improved access for passengers with restricted mobility. Phase 1 includes the construction of a new UK Border Force immigration facility and international baggage reclaim hall, as well as expanded retail and international departure lounge facilities. Phase 2 will include an enlarged central search and check-in areas, alongside larger duty free, retail and arrivals areas. Construction work is expected to be completed in 2026. The project will also play a significant part in the airport’s Net Zero Carbon Roadmap, with the installation of new efficient heating, lighting and machinery, as well as attracting airlines to deploy their newest, quietest and most efficient aircraft at the airport.
