There's no such thing as 'normal' or 'average', which is both true and not true, helpful and unhelpful, all at the same time. Supply chains returning to an earlier time where the practitioners would just bring in material, sent out products, and reduced costs? That 'return to normalcy' is a fallacy since #supplychain managers are constantly working to keep a dynamic system balanced. Normality is change and disruption, to a varying degree. The amount of risks and their consequences that can be seen in the 'after times' is an order of magnitude more than the 'before times'. Here is a very partial list: Geopolitics, trade restrictions, compliance requirements, sustainability, ESG, UFLPA, the EU, and new-NAFTA. These are all news headline-worthy, and all targeting the supply chain. These needs visibility at the top, and attention from the highest decision-makers. #supply #compliance #geopolitics #trade #traceability #sustainability

As Supply Chain professionals worldwide prepare for the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium 2024 in Barcelona, what must you remember to be ready? + Review the programme for the three days from June 10th to June 12th; select those you want to attend, as some will be full by the time you get to Barcelona. + Research the Analysts and see who are experts in your area. Make sure you follow them on LinkedIn and set up an alert when they post. + If you have access to a 1-2-1 with the analyst, make sure you book it early, as they have limited slots. + Make yourself visible on social media so others can connect with you and vice versa. + Research the exhibitors and shortlist those you want to learn more about. Attend their sessions and ask questions, look for proof points, and ask to see what they are talking about. + Start now. On the plane, on the way in, in the local hotels, look out for other conference attendees, introduce yourself, and discover their supply chain journey. + Make every meal and drink break count; when you are queueing for coffee when you are eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, take the time to find out more. We broke a record y'all. 400 submissions were made for the Women In Supply Chain™ award this year 🙌🏻 That's the highest amount of applications the Women in Supply Chain Forum has ever received! Here's what makes it even better 👇🏻 118 applications were submitted by men who nominated their boss or co-worker (last year there were 75). And 39 women nominated themselves (last year there were 12). Do you know what this means? This means we're making 👏🏻 PROGRESS 👏🏻 This means there's 👏🏻 HOPE 👏🏻 Hope that traditionally male-dominated industries are recognizing the invaluable contributions women make. Hope that the next generation will feel empowered to step into that role. But there's still work to be done. While I agree that sudden tariffs can increase inflation, it's premature to conclude that this inflation will return to or exceed what we saw in the last couple of years. We should not forget that inflation expectations play a crucial role in actual inflation. It's possible that tariffs will be implemented gradually, supported by tax cuts for manufacturers increasing production in the U.S., or managed monetarily through reduced government spending.
