Once again, we see the impact of Graeme Drake 's irresponsible decision to allow the UNITED ACCREDITATION FOUNDATION (UAF) into the IAF. The UAF is under investigation for criminal tax evasion and other B2B fraud, but they are now fully "respected" as an IAF member, because Drake refused to process complaints against them while taking their money. Now, the Brigade of the Guards in India has gotten hoodwinked, and never did their due diligence. They bought an ISO certificate from UAF-accredited CB Royal Impact Certification Limited. RICL was formerly investigated for quoting ISO certifications before asking clients how many employees they had, thus violating mandatory "audit duration" rules. They also got caught falsely claiming JAS-ANZ accreditation, but they got Parveen Sadana at UAF to accredit them anyway. Sadana claims the UAF is an American not-for-profit company, but he's never filed a single required public tax return. He likely never paid taxes on any of UAF's income, including what he earned from the Indian brigade here. If found guilty of tax fraud, Sadana could be arrested if he tries to set foot in the US. New Modern Slavery standard: ISO 37200 Great session in Cambridge with ISO Technical Committee 309 Workgroup progressing the new draft standard on Modern Slavery. An incredibly collaborative process which is guided by international cross sectoral perspectives contributed by SMEs including commercial practitioners, researchers and NGOs as well as lived experience individuals - all expertly steered by the standards gurus and ISO guardrails. Productive consensus building is essential to this process, TC drafting being done in readiness for review and comment phase by national standards teams across the global community. The National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) has issued new guidelines aimed at mitigating terrorist threats during venue ingress and egress. This guidance emphasises the importance of meticulous planning and preparation to ensure the safety and security of venues, especially during periods of increased vulnerability. Organisations and event planners are advised to adopt a mix of operational and physical security strategies, staff training, and established security protocols. Additionally, it is crucial to have effective measures in place to manage incidents if they occur. The measures outlined in this document are extensive and may not be applicable to every venue. On this delightful Saturday morning, I have started reading the draft of BS 8674 Framework for competence of individual fire risk assessors. Available here: https://lnkd.in/edHe9Y5s I have so many questions already, but this jumped out at me... "The fire risk assessor is expected to report failures that pose risk of harm" and "These actions are often called whistleblowing. Whistleblowing is a process whereby where concerns are raised, using known accessible and confidential reporting routes, to senior managers and ultimately external agencies having authority and legal jurisdiction." My initial thoughts... - Everything in fire safety "pose risk of harm" so this is pretty broad. - Does this places a greater duty on the assessor to monitor the implementation of recommended actions and "ultimately" report to the fire authority? It seems that fire risk assessors have been pelted from all angles over the past 5 years from criminal prosecutions to extortionate insurance costs. Do they now they have some extended duty to report to the enforcing body? I'm still reading so perhaps my thoughts will change. Looking forward to seeing if the Standard sheds some light on what level of qualification is required to undertake an FRA.

As part of the Business Continuity arrangements, organisations should consider the impacts of climate change and severe weather on operations and delivery of services and goods to customers. But did you know, that organisations certified or considering certification to ISO27001 now have to consider climate change as part of the requirements of the standard. The ISO27001 2024 amendment emphasises integrating climate change considerations into information security management systems. It adds new requirements to ensure organizations address climate change impacts on operations and interested parties. This amendment reflects the growing importance of environmental sustainability in information security. Organisations certified under ISO27001 will need to adjust their systems to comply with these new requirements.
