Flexibility, Security, and Resilience: 🔸 Cloud and IT Services: Hosts major cloud providers like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, offering flexibility and choice for enterprises. 🔸 Private Connections: Provides the largest number of potential cross-connections for enterprises needing direct network connections. 🔸 Internet Exchanges: Hosts several Internet Exchange Points, enhancing network redundancy and performance. Sustainability and ESG Commitments: 🔸 Renewable Energy: All UK data centres use renewable energy sources, with a goal to be climate neutral by 2030. 🔸 Energy Efficiency: Achieved a global average power usage efficiency (PUE) of 1.42 in 2023. Technology companies seem hesitant to take their own medicine when it comes to sustainability. Despite developing solutions to tackle climate change, new research from Kyndryl and Microsoft reveals that only 21% of global firms deploy technology in their environmental strategies. The findings are stark: while 84% of organisations claim sustainability as a priority, less than a fifth use their data for strategic planning. "Businesses are under pressure to act decisively," says Kyndryl's Faith Taylor, yet the gap between intention and implementation grows wider. Microsoft's Matthew Sekol suggests firms need to better integrate "sustainability data with operational and financial data" to drive real change. His point is well made - the study shows 62% of organisations still limit their use of AI to basic monitoring, missing opportunities for predictive analysis and strategic planning.
