Nodding Donkey Brewing
🍺 What is a Hazy Pale Ale? Hazy Pale Ale, also known as New England Pale Ale, is a popular choice in the craft beer market with its cloudy appearance and juicy flavour. 🍺 Perfect for Craft Beer Newbies Due to its balanced and aromatic nature, Hazy Pale Ale is an excellent gateway beer for those just starting their craft beer journey. 🍺 How It's Made The haze in Hazy Pale Ale comes from brewing techniques that suspend yeast and proteins within the beer, creating a cloudy look. It's often brewed with a variety of hops that lend it a fruity, tropical aroma and flavour. 🍺 Why So Popular? People love Hazy Pale Ale for its approachable taste profile. It's not as bitter as typical IPAs and offers a smooth, refreshing drinking experience with notes of citrus and tropical fruit. Thought of the day: A leader is a sh*t shield The best line managers I have had, provided me the opportunity to grow but protected me from things above my pay grade. Being a sh*t shield builds trust and allows your team to have confidence in your intentions as a manager & leader. Ultimately it’s your job to protect your team. #mentalhealth #shitshield #growth #protect #team #ethics

Moi by Mademoiselle Desserts (UK)
Do you enjoy classic fruity flavours? So do UK consumers! 🍏 When it comes to sweet treats, chocolate and caramel aren't the only stars of the show you know... Classic fruit-forward sweet treats and desserts are a current favourite in the UK, with customers seeking indulgent treats that balance both flavour and freshness.* Fully loaded fruit fillings, especially those starring berries, are winning hearts as they offer a lighter, more health-conscious way to indulge without compromising on taste. It's all about the perfect harmony...vibrant fruit flavours paired with satisfying textures (think apple pies and crumbles!) That’s why our Apple and Red Fruits Mini Beignets are such a hit 🍏🍒Bursting with real fruit flavours within a soft, fluffy bite, they’re the perfect choice for consumers looking for indulgence with a fresh twist! #flavours #consumertrends #bakery #fruits *Source: Puratos Taste Tomorrow Research

A range of Quorn branded retail products on sale in Morrisons, Sidcup, 23 June 2024 Credit: Just Food The restructuring of Quorn Foods’ UK plant-based operations will result in unquantified job losses but no factory closures, owner Monde Nissin has confirmed. This was reported by Philippines-based Monde Nissin Just food that the exact number of job cuts “would only be determined as we progress through the business transformation program led by new chief executive David Flochel”. Former Heineken, Mars and Unilever executive Flochel was appointed as the successor to Marco Bertacca in October. Although he has already joined Quorn Foods, he will not officially take up the role of CEO until January. Within weeks of that announcement, Monde Nissin revealed further “softness” in demand for its plant-based meats, which has plagued its financial results for 2023 and 2024. The nine-month figures released earlier in November were accompanied by a restructuring to “streamline costs and simplify operations”. Forbes reported this week, based on an interview with Monde Nissin’s CFO Jesse Teo, that the company ‘will cut hundreds of Quorn’s workforce as it closes factories and streamlines its supply chain’. While the Philippines head office acknowledged UK jobs would be lost, it did not comment on the actual figures ahead of Flochel’s start of his tenure as chief executive. However, the company denied that any of Quorn Foods’ factories were earmarked for closure. Access the most comprehensive company profiles on the market, powered by GlobalData. Save hours of research. Greggs reports Q1 sales growth 👏 The British bakery chain has announced a 7.4% increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2024. Continuing its strong strategic and operational progress which is driven by store expansion and strong performance across all channels, Greggs reported revenue of £693m, up from £609m taken in the same period last year. Star performers across its product portfolio included its bakery items, pizza boxes and the expansion of its vegan offerings. The company also opened 64 new stores during the quarter, taking its total estate up to 2,500 in the UK, with a target of adding up to 160 more by the end of the year. Roisin Currie, CEO of Greggs, commented: "There is so much for us to get after in the UK, hence the confidence that we’ve got around all the different growth levers that we’re currently working on." "I think we’re quite a humble brand, so we’re not at all arrogant enough to believe it’s simply because we love the product range in the UK that we should expect other countries across the world to love that product range." "Hence the need to do really good quality research and understand what products that customers would like, and then hopefully that would help us identify markets.” #News #Food #Drink #Bakery #Sales #Performance #Q1 #Growth

Public Sector Catering
Creed Foodservice Ltd launches ‘UK’s first ever Brain Food’ school menu The wholesaler has partnered with a dietitian Juliette Kellow to launch the ‘UK’s first ever Brain Food’ 🧠 school menu, as research revealed two thirds (64%) of parents worry about their child’s eating habits at secondary school. New research by the wholesaler found an overwhelming majority of parents (96%) say they would welcome their child’s school offering a menu that provides dishes rich in nutrients to support brain function. This sentiment was shared by 76% of those who work in state secondary schools. Just 14% of parents say their child always eats well at school. This is resulting in significant missed revenue opportunities for state schools, as nearly three quarters (72%) of parents whose children take a packed lunch say they would encourage their child to buy lunch from school more often if there were more nutritious options on the menu. If their child hasn’t eaten nutritious, filling food at school, parents say it affects them when they get home: 👉 They are hungry and fill up on convenient, easy-to-eat snacks (e.g. crisps, biscuits, sugary drinks) 👉They are ‘hangry’ (angry / grumpy due to hunger) 👉They have little energy 👉They communicate less than usual 👉They don’t concentrate on their homework very well 👉They are not as interested in taking part in their after-school activities and clubs Read more>> https://lnkd.in/eCQJFWMx #publicfood #schoolfood #brainfood Rob Owen Anna Clapson

GIG Retail
Mars Wrigley trials new sustainable display unit in Tesco stores. Annelise Turner from GIG says, 'This is such a great initiative from Mars Wrigley showcasing their new cocoa bean waste shipper display units in Tesco. They cleverly combine sustainability with marketing, it’s a great step change for the instore retail media environment where printed POS is still highly prevalent. It’s a smart way to engage customers and promote eco-friendly values in the retail space. This move not only boosts their green credentials but also sets a solid example for other brands (and retailers) to follow, which I’m sure they will! Eco friendly marketing is exactly what the industry needs to move forward sustainably.' Starting Blocks Coaching Ltd
"What's your NPD's weighted distribution in Tesco Express in Northampton w/c 8th April 2024?" "You have got OOS issues on 11 lines in your portfolio, supply and sales are asking you, marketer, to explain why that is, and you need time to find what is actually going on??!" I've got some harsh truths to drop today about this silly myth. Apparently, marketing leaders are all supposed to be flawless, omniscient masters of all things in their organisations. First off, let's get one thing straight..... If you've conned your way into a marketing management job without ever feeling like you're just winging it half the time, you're either a liar or a robot. No human can juggle that many flaming batons in the air without dropping one on their foot occasionally. The idea that you're meant to have all the answers, a globally strategic mindset, and the diplomatic skills of the UN Secretary General while simultaneously putting out product recall fires, herding the x-functional team, and making the tea round is absolutely utter sh!t. Seriously...it's daft, completely unrealistic and unhealthy. I don't care if you went to Harvard and worked at Google before this - at some point, you're going to feel overwhelmed, doubt yourself, and wonder why they hired your incompetent self in the first place. It happens to all of us, me included. Imposter syndrome is way more common among us, marketers, than we think. The truth is, being a great marketing leader means juggling with a ridiculous amount of balls every single day. You've got to jump from creative discussions with your agencies to utterly difficult operational issues. Oh yes, don't forget to have a keen strategic vision while your team sets the laser printer on fire...again. It's crazy, isn't it?! So instead of beating yourself up for not being a marketing robocop, accept that you're human. Amazingly human. And yeah, you're gonna make mistakes and ask yourself repeatedly "How did I end up here?" But that humble insecurity is what'll keep you hungry, learning, and striving to be better. At the end of the day, a little self-doubt means you're doing it right. The real incompetent ones are those so arrogant and deluded that they think they've got it all figured out. Don't be that person.... If you want to hear more about the support I offer, reach out to me - I'll be more than happy to chat with you!

As a Scottish supplier to the whisky industry, McLaren Packaging wants to help its customers make the right sustainability choices. Donald McLaren says in our Scotch whisky supplement how that is one of the key objectives of the family business. He says: “Sustainability is very broad and not well defined. For some it could mean a low carbon footprint and for others it could be providing benefits to society. Our business approaches sustainability holistically and in all its forms." Labour shortages cost food & drink manufacturers £1.4bn in the past year. Not having the staff you need or being able to react to demand quickly is eating away at your profits. Over half of manufacturers reported vacancies of 0%-5%. And half of all mid-sized businesses reported vacancies of up to 10% – almost three times the national average. Making sure you've got the right staff, when and where you need them, is just one reason you should offer workplace transport. https://bit.ly/3ZPpBBv #recruitment #foodmanufacturing #workplacetransport
