FinTech funding in August 2024 recorded about USD 507.8 million from 16 rounds, a notable increase compared to the previous months.Early-stage deal funding has seen an increase, while late-stage deals have experienced a decline, indicating a renewed interest in fintech innovation. India's Global Ranking in Fintech Funding: - India ranks third globally for fintech funding despite a slump in the first half of 2024, receiving funding of USD 795 million, a decline of 11% and 59% compared to previous years. - This was significantly higher than the amount raised in the same month in the previous year, with the sector raising about USD 130 million from 12 deals in August 2023. Top Fundraising Companies: - DMI Finance raised approximately USD 334 million from MUFG, followed by Neo which raised about USD 47.7 million from MUFG Bank and Euclidean Capital. - Other significant fundraises include Clix Capital, Even, and axio, with amounts ranging from USD 20 million to USD 26.3 million. Global Fintech Funding Trends: - Globally, FinTechs raised about USD 2.05 billion in June 2024, with a shift towards a surge in early-stage deal funding and a decline in late-stage deals. - However, funding in the FinTech space has also been experiencing a downward trend globally, with a decline of 63% compared to the previous year. Our Partner & Head-FinTech, Shilpa Mankar Ahluwalia shared her thoughts with ETBFSI around the RBI’s guidelines for LSPs. As an introduction to the new draft guidelines, RBI said that the identity of a potential lender may be unknown to a borrower in cases where an LSP has arrangements with multiple lenders.
